oops I think this answer was maybe for another poster "empty purse" regarding matching up the duvet.0 -

My table and chairs are painted in french grey and they are definately alot greener & darker than that picture & the test swatch so if might be worth getting a tester pot first as I was suprised at the end colour....in fact I'll try to take a close up photo now.......
sorry not brilliant still doesn't show its depth of colour hope it helps
Thanks rachelle! Will definitely get a tester pot and try it out before I go crazy on the cupboards
This is a picture of the kitchen in my new flat....
Was thinking of painting the door, perhaps changing the worktop to a chunky wooden Ikea special (depending how it looks once I've painted) and perhaps replacing some of the upper door panels with glass. I'm not keen on the tiles but they've done a really nice job on them, might just keep them and see but I'm tempted to paint them a lighter colour after seeing how good people's look on here!
Any suggestions for me?0 -

Not that I am an expert, but I think your tiles will look lovely if you are painting your cupboards and changing your worktop, a lovely splash of colour next to plain.0 -
I think the back door is already a fantastic colour for Shabby style! It would tie in lovely with painted cupboards in cream, you could then accesorize in the back door colours0

You've got all the great basics to start with and I think the tiles will look great if you get the right colour for the units etc....Definately get yourself a colour card or better still paint a piece of lining paper (this is a must if you use a paint that has a printed colour rather than handpainted like F&B) & move it around the kitchen so you can see how it changes depending where it is....there is a fab colour called mouse's back but in might be too dark...simplicity is key0 -

The doors are gorgeous, aren't they? There's another one on the opposite wall that leads to the bathroom....I've been saving a ceramic delft 'bathroom' sign for almost 3 years just waiting for the right kind of door to put it on (our current place has a boring bathroom door, I refused to put it on there) and this one is just perfect!!
I'm so excited about this place, I'm moving in on my own for the first time so will have no-one to answer to decor wise :T0 -

vintage pleasure - u know you say you have open shelves in your kitchen.. doyou find that things get greasy from cooking or messy..
i am thinking of removing our top cupboards and just having chunky wooden open shelves with enamel tins on and jars of pasta etc,
but im not sure if they would just end up looking scruffy !!
would you reccomend having htem and do you have any piccies of yours??0
