Pennib, I love your pics, please give us more!!! My kitchen is brand new but I've snagged a couple of your pics for ideas when the doors need a bit of a refurb (or maybe sooner :D ) I have pale ivory doors with an inset panel like yours - wouldn't have thought of painting pics in them, so thank you! :T

Here's something thats not painted:p Hanging in the bathroom. I picked up a very large bag of shells in a charity shop for 75p and made this (about 15 years ago)Its a large mirror tile glued to a peice of plywood. The little crab that is on the top left hand corner was dead (honest) when I picked it up on the beach....I found the legs further on (is that too much information:o )and glued him back together again after a good wash first. ;)

Rosieben when you have done some painting you will have to show us:D
Glad I have inspired someone, as I have been inspired by this thread. I am looking out for a dresser and some deck chairs and outside paint....and.....and....and:rolleyes:
One thing I'd really like to do is make a rustic arch for the garden to train roses or somat over. Got one branch thats long enough now need another 3 the same size. (the neighbours might hear the distant hum of a chain saw in the middle of the night when I go cutting their trees up:D )Saw one in a catalogue which was £70 which I fell in love with but it was to wide and to expensive:mad:

That is beautiful! you have such a good eye for design.

I sea-shelled a small mirror frame (8"x10") years ago but I'd love to have a go at something like this. I'll have to send out a request to friends and family who are planning to hit the beaches this year! :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

    ...

I have a few photos but the only ones I can find at the mo are one of the Ariel mural I did on my dgd's bedroom wall a few years ago and one of the mural we painted on their garden fence (in her 'play corner')

    here's Ariel

    ARIEL-2.jpg

sorry the colours are crappy but it was an off white wall about 10' wide and the mural covered the whole thing, out of shot there are bubbles, fishes, sea horses and the castle.

I can only find a photo of the garden mural half finished at the mo so wont bore you with that.

I really would like to try a trompe l'oeil pic. I have an old chimney breast in my bedroom which I'll post a photo of in a while. I'd like to paint a window and a view - thinking sea shore or flower meadow at the mo, let me know what you think

here it is - its much higher than it looks, I can easily stand inside the recess

Ahh that is so sweet, very well painted. I bet your g'daughter loved it. Cor 10' that's big, how long did it take to paint? Did you use acrylic paints? Did you do it free-hand? questions question:rotfl:

Yes, she loved it. it took me a couple of days to paint, done freehand but with lots of pics for reference. I used all sorts of paints, I think a pale green actually (not off white) for the background, lots of tester pots, some poster paints and some acrylics. I was lucky enough to find some iridescent aqua paint for Ariel's tail, it was so pretty, really sparkled. we used some rubber stamps for the smaller fish and smaller seahorses as there was a lot of wall to cover and my dd did most of those. My dd also did the bubbles, we discovered that a paper cup dabbed in paint (but most of it wiped off) then pressed to the wall gave an irregular circle and then just a little dab of light paint for a realistic light reflection for a really good bubble - she did loads of those all over the wall! ;)

Hi all, haven't posted for a week or two as been too busy at work sob sob, but I'd like to say:
Curlyford: Thanks for the advise on the frames
Liz D: Thanks for your advice too, I will try and get some to paint

Mollymop5: Your cushions and quilt are so gorgeous!!
Pennib: keep the pics coming, I am so envious of your energy.

I keep reading and talking about it but not getting round to doing anything.
I did make curtains and cushions in the holiday tho.
Does anyone else find it difficult keeping up with both forums now?? Or is it me??
