We have now exchanged contracts and move on Thursday - so I can start to think about my new house and doing some shabby chic.
We've seen a house on Right Move and might get to see it Saturday. It is in need of some work, so just what we are looking for. I feel plenty of shabby chicing coming on!!!
I love the idea of the kitchen cabinets and dresssers, they will make lovely replacements for kitchen cupboards as well as looking good,

Question: can i paint indoor wooden chairs with outdoor paint and then use the chairs outdoors?
I'm thinking of painting old wooden chairs baby blue and then using them as garden chairs.
ETA: i've just been browsing the 200 odd pages of this thread and I'm so inspired! I'm off to the junk shop first thing in the morning! Even DH is getting enthusiastic about the whole shabby chic thing!
When we moved here we had a lovely old pine trunk that would'nt fit in anywhere in the house so I painted it with outdoor garden paint in a soft matt green colour and it's in the garden. It's been there two years now through all that rain last year and two winters and still looks great.I use it as an extra seat and it's so handy to store my small garden stuff, trowels plant food ect.0 -

Here is another piccy. It is the doors of a dresser we had in our old kitchen (no room again now!)It was an old '40's sideboard, my friend gave me a top from something else which fitted perfectly so made a sort of dresser. The top had 2 smaller doors which had a smaller version of the hens. (havnt got a photo of this as its dismantled in the shed)

Pennib, I love your pics, please give us more!!! My kitchen is brand new but I've snagged a couple of your pics for ideas when the doors need a bit of a refurb (or maybe sooner) I have pale ivory doors with an inset panel like yours - wouldn't have thought of painting pics in them, so thank you! :T

I do have light walls so it looks quite good as is. By the time I get in to the shop they'll probably be all sold out but for that price it's good. It's about £8. I love the baskets in the top corner too.
Sorry AL, only just read your post because I'm flitting in and out whilst packingI love that tea light holder, did you get one? be interested to see what colour you painted it, I'd probably have gone for a soft willow green against my cream wall;)

Cuprinol Heritage Garden Shades is a fabulous paint for outside.
Here
They are lovely colours I love the Somerset Green.
Pick up a leaflet from somewhere, gives ideas of colour combos but I have one from about 2 years ago.Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

I used this on my trellis and it has stood up realy well, never flaked or warped. On my garden trunk (which was an indoor piece of furniture to start with)I used ronseal garden makeover,in chalky green. This gave a lovely finish and has'nt budged a bit. It's been left out for two winters too.0 -

Have you any photos of your work that you'd like to share? pretty pleaseI agree its addictive I'm always on the look out for junk that I can re-vamp. Sometimes you can change something that has started out in life as one thing to something totally different. One of my projects started life as a bureau (very manky) and ended up as a stool! I think I posted a piccy way back.
