I've bought demijohn corks from wilkinsons and also found them for sale on the net (try ebay?); I have a few friends collecting the small ones for me, some of hte bottles still do have 'cork' corks rather than plastic

Your pub is definitely trying it on - they'd lose my trade for their meanness!

Patchwork? I really like random, the patterns seem against what was the original idea of patchwork, to me? I'd go for a max of 4 patterns and 1 or 2 plain on a big piece, but probably less patterns on a smaller item. Its more important to have the colours right I think, so I start off by choosing colours that match or contrast.

  • 50p each for corks!! That's a rip off if ever I heard one.I'd try a different pub or restaurant.

    hi,

i have just finished one project, which was to be honest a desperation idea which has worked better than i thought it would.

needed to store all of my earrings (seem to collect them) so i got a smallish pinboard, painted it, and covered it in that nylon mesh stuff, and have hung my earrings onto it... (i though it would look awful but it's actually ok...)

but i will need a more permanant idea so any would be welcome... they do need to be hung as it stops tangles etc...

also am in need of more corks, does any one have any idea of where to get some, as my local pub wants to charge me for them??? seems quite tight to me as they just throw them away, and they want 50p each for them!!!! all of the wine i drink has thoses plastic ones in it...

i have a resource centre near me and there's bag fulls there, how many do you want ?

I'd go for random patchwork as well.

As to 50 p for a cork!

For those who remember my sewing box:
(I'll include a before pic in case nobody does as it was so long ago!)

    And the after:

And I finally came down on a different fabric altogether, to line it, as it went better with the Dimity.

So if anyone sees a sewing box like this: snap it up. They are so lovely, and the kids want their own because of all the itsy-bitsy compartments. It's also a fairly small project (though it's taken me an awfully long time!).

Boots and wilkinsons sell them for home brewing. Imagine they will be a lot cheaper than 50p each!

How lovely! I have the same design in my bedroom and have a few spare rolls of the same pattern wallpaper if you ever need some.

Icandream, that is stunning, I don't even sew but now I want one too, lol!!!! If you are lucky enough to come across anymore sewing boxes or similar they would make fabulous gifts as well, you can really see the time and effort that's gone in to that and it's turned a rather boring original box into something truly original. I love it.
