Thats just what I was going to ask..............lol
I want to paint my Dads old tray he made and thought of doing the flat piece with spots..........had thought of painting them but how on earth do you paint spots on something ? Oilcloth would be perfect but how do you stick it down ?
And where do you get the oilcloth from ? I've got a tablecloth but don't want to cut that up (even though it never gets used as OH prefers our table left as a scrubbed top)

It looks really triff. Which paint did you use and how did you get the inset to stick?

Thank you! I used F&B 'matchstick' on everything.

The oilcloth inset is for added protection and is loose, but the weight of the fabric holds it in place iyswim, especially with the lamps etc on top. The oilcloth came from Dunelm Mill.

wow i have a bedside table really similar to the before picture but i don't have the handy rail, so probably couldn't do the preatty pattern thing... mmmmm me thinks i may have to find something to do with it...

i couldn find corks being sold (i saw bags of 100) but i only need about 10, so i will just have to become more of a 'nice' wine drinker to ensure that i get real corks!!!! also think that i may need just a few more champagne corks, which should be fun... ;)

i found some really barginous paint today, from the DULUX heritage range, in the 99p shop... i've picked up three tins, and can't wait to get them on something... (foyer green x2 and pale walnut x1...)

i have some nasty melamine drawers that i need to chic up, and i know that i have seen the name of something ?ESP? that would prepare the surface, can any one name the product??? i went into a hardware shop, and the guy in there looked at me like i was mad when i asked for anything to prepare melamine, and said i'd be better off just chucking it away... (i'm saving for a house and am determind that when i move in i want nice (ish) furniture...)

i'm going to wallpaper the front of the drawers, but still need to decide what colour i'm going to paint the hypothetical rooms in my house...

where are you all sourcing these amazing fabrics from, they all look great, but i can only find really grannified floral prints...

I'd go for random patchwork as well.

As to 50 p for a cork!

For those who remember my sewing box:
(I'll include a before pic in case nobody does as it was so long ago!)

    And the after:

And I finally came down on a different fabric altogether, to line it, as it went better with the Dimity.

So if anyone sees a sewing box like this: snap it up. They are so lovely, and the kids want their own because of all the itsy-bitsy compartments. It's also a fairly small project (though it's taken me an awfully long time!).

Ice cream you really should go into business. That is an amazing transformation. You clever thing you!:T :T

Here is the trolley / dumbwaiter that I cut down:

I used some spotty oilcloth to protect the top. The glass candlesticks were all from charity shops and cost 40p each for the single ones, OH paid £5 for the matching pair ( ). I found the ready-lined basket in Instore for £5 and it hides all my junk.

This is the plate rack my lovely dad (75) made for my birthday:
    2451022337_40a25ca890_m.jpg

The plates on top were £5 for the three in Past Times sale shop in Street (OH bargained the price down from £7 as the 4th plates was missing), the middle row plates came from TKMaxx reduced shelves, the blue enamel jug was from the National Trust sale shop (Clarks Village in Street), and the two cupcake plates with the cupcake pot came from Buyology and each cost £1.
    I love bargain hunting :D .

This is one of a pair of Ercol chairs we bought 18+ years ago, after I had sanded it down and stripped off the latest cover:

This is the other chair (first one is the rocker) after F&B 'matchstick'. I bought the upholstery fabric in Dunelm Mill.

    This is my next project:

£3 from a charity shop! I really like the cutlery drawer under the lower tray.

Sorry the praise was meant for you Luxor4t. Silly me lol:rolleyes: I get confused easily
