    oooo fab - I'm in! :A

Now, I've come in incredibly depressed, to face this (new today cos we had to have the archaic plumbing system updated before it blew up):

DH says it can be covered, but it's straight behind the front door? It strikes me I can't shabby chic this area? Please reassure me, someone. This is the same hall I'm going to do Vintage Pleasure's suggestions to the cupboards which face this - they are further along under the stairs. I'd thought of wallpapering this one wall, but I just feel a bit low now. What do I do? Please tell me it'll get better. I'm sitting here with a HUGE glass of wine not quite knowing what to plan or do about it. :(:(:(
I think that once you have painted them or boxed them in and finished decorating the rest you really wont even notice them.I would just paint them I think. We have one of the old pipes that they used to run electric cables through that runs right up the side of our vestibule door in the hall.I didn't even notice it was there until I came to repaint it!
I wouldn't make a feature out of them though as this would draw your eye to them instead of making them blend in.With what you are planning for your gorgeous hall there will be plenty to catch your eye and the pipes won't even be noticed.

bibbly - love the mangle..............same colour as mine but sadly anything wooden on mine has rotted away over the years. I did try hanging a basket from the top one year but it wouldn't sit straight so I gave up and just put a load of shrubs around it so its a feature in its own right really.

Pipes !!!! Don;t !!! We;ve got them all over the place.............spare room has them going down the wall so I painted them same colour - I still think they look awful and said to OH about boxing them in years ago............not done yet and don't suppose they will be now. They come down the stairs where the door is to the kitchen as well and the most offending lot are in the 'room that resembles building site' formerly known as 'junk room'...........at least thats somewhere that'll never be used as a proper room, just a store room really so it's not that important but it does drive me a little tiny bit barmy when I look at it:mad:
