I got a lovely worn, white enamel jug from the same boot sale as the kitchen thing. It was 1 euro. I bought another white enamel pot with a little drainage pipe and a hanging loop. My hosts - a doctor and nurse laughed - it was a container used for enemas. the little spout at the bottom I thought was for drainage was for the little rubber tube that went from from there to the patient's .... All those ladies who had babies in the 60's and 70's will know where !!!:p

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

pipkin your pictures are lovely - did you make the pics yourself???
the heart and button one is fab..
I have made some of my accessries - laundry bags for the bathroom and i have made fabric heart hangers.
My trouble is I have a head full of fab ideas but I am a bit cack handed so something gets lost between head and hand!!
Fortunately my mil and mum are excellent seamstresses(sp?) so curtains etc are made for me
  • Just seen all the great info and pics on here and I love it cos it is so me and my hubby and I thought we were the last people we know to still have old pine and bits and bobs in our house!
Vivw I have the exact same cabinet you have next to your sofa in my back room where I am now - mine is full of photo albums which need to be scrapbooked at some date in the future! I have gingham curtains in my pine kitchen and my Ducal pine is still going strong.:T
Will keep up with this thread now - I feel rejuvenated and glad I don't have to feel guilty about not being minimalist.

    Thanks :D

Vivw, the jug is really a duck egg blue colour, but its a bad pic and hard to see properly.

Charley, I bought the peg rail from a diy shop years ago, it's really just 2 small ones side by side and painted (it's been so many colours over the years - God bless tester pots!) - each one was only 99p. The birdhouse was from Ebay, and no one else wanted it so I got it for 99p too!

    Thanks Dizzy :D

Boys mum3, The family pic came with the mount in that shape, and instead of putting pics in it I put fabric behind the mount..I've changed it since I took that pic and now there is a different type of fabric behind each letter. I did make the hearts and buttons one, with rusty hearts, MOP buttons and brown paper! (I made the one in the pic with the white heart frame too - well I bought the frame and stuck the buttons on it and put the fabric behind it).

The flat is rented, so I can't change the basics (I could wallpaper/paint if I wanted, but I'd have to put it back to how it was before we left, and we are only here for a wee while), so only the furniture/accessories are under my control... none of our stuff is expensive, apart from a few bits and peices, most furniture/lighting comes from IKEA.

    Here are some more pics:
