I came back from my favourite charity shop with 2 glass candle sticks, an embroidered Port Meirion cushion cover, a small china owl and a big smile because OH paid :D CISS in Brynmill is great.

I could have got really carried away because there was lots of pretty floral china items, but there's nowhere to put it at the moment...

I realise the owl is not shabby chic, but I liked him!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

I took delivery of a cute little Woods Ware Beryl jug today, I prefer the Jasmine range as I have some already, but this was only 99p on ebay.
  • I'm not sure I'm a true Shabby Chic-er you know....That quilt I bought smells so musty that even after 3 washes (one a boil wash).... a tumble dry and an afternoon on the line (and a bit of moulting!!).... I'm not sure I can bring myself to put it on my daughters bed!

I think it will be going back on ebay this weekend! Also today, in the charity shop, there was a lovely glass dressing table set.... but when I went to pick it up it was covered in black hairs. I can imagine it sitting in someone room for years and years and their big black dog/cat/hairy housekeeper coming in and scratching hairs everywhere and the whole place never being cleaned. I know it's stupid and everything looks better with a good scrub but I honestly couldn't even pick it up....

But I have to say that the one and only time I ever went to Haven I couldn't bring myself to sleep on their mattresses either (they were rank) so maybe I'm just overly fussy!!

I got some more bits and pieces and I want a bigger house so I can buy some more. :o

Yesterday I was dropping stuff off at the charity shop and found a lovely little bevilled glass oval mirror to add to/complete my collection. :j Also spotted an old fashioned gents clothes horse for the bedroom which needs stripped and stained. :D

We have a huge local auction here tommorrow (only happens every few years) so popped up tonight with a friend to the preview. All the stuff in the auction is lovely but too big but they were selling the less valuable stuff tonight so I came away with a new chair for the bedroom, a white painted bookcase for DD and a very old and dinky oak nest of tables for the living room.

I'll post pics when I've sanded and stained the lot. ;)
  • on the subject of 60 minute makeover.. i think its rubbish these days.. when it first started with our claire sweeny i thought it was good but now its just awful.. the stuff is always the same.. and the painting is awful you can see were they have got it all over picture rails skirting boards and ceilings.. today i noticed that they were painting over a paper border instead of peeling it off first, imagine how crap that would look in real life ..
ive told my H never to suprise me with one of them. i would go round with a big tin of white paint and start again!!!!!

You need to mix and match the Iris (blue) is very pretty aswell.I have a slow growing mixed collection in the cellar for when I get fed up of my Johnsons Bros stuff.I only pay less than a pound a piece and it's getting harder to find.
