Poppet your desk looks fab. I came on here to post another "before and after" project - little one today!

Some of you may remember that this was dumped outside my charity shop and they wouldn't take it in because it had been in the rain so I got it for free!

    AND AFTER

I took the "magazine" holder bit off of the side because it was damaged.

What do you think about the knobs? Be honest, because I'm not sure whether to paint them or leave them as they are..... I was going to recover the top too but the nails etc are REALLY old holding it all together and I'm not sure I'd be able to replace the top bit if I recovered. I quite like it the way it is!

beautiful! i think the top looks fine, but if it were me, I'd probably paint the nobs, why not paint them one of the colours of the flowers in the fabric?

now this one must have been near top of the range...with the designed glass and the little drawer in side....

i wish that one was closer to me..... as its a little corker....

if i ever get one of those kitchenette larders.. i can see myself ... wearing my vintage aprons.. hair in rollers .... a bit like hilda ogden.... or a bit like that welsh comedy programme that i can vaguely remember with ryan davies dressed as a woman.( a bit like hilda ogden)....lol.... if i did i think my hubby wouls def think i had lost the plot....

Wow, a real trip down memory lane here! The programme you describe was called Ryan & Ronnie, they had a weekly sketch called 'Our 'Ouse', which was supposed to be about life in a valley terrace.
Ryan Davies was Mam - do you remember his cross over pinnie, slippers and the way he used to hold the loaf of bread under one arm while cutting a slice towards himself? my mum tried and nearly cut herself! The kids were called 'Phylis Doris' and 'Nigel Wyn', and Ronnie played 'Dad' although the kids had to be reminded 'don't call Will on your father!' when they used his first name ...

I wish the shows had been recorded, they were brilliant!

I've seen a few of these on ebay in dark wood going for fairly cheap. Is there none like that near you that you could paint yourself? I wouldn't have attempted it before my little projects that I've now done and now I'm ready for anything!

:D Can I just say that I am now officially obsessed with this thread (and Im only up to page 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Keep getting sidetracked with all the fab links etc....

I might get brave and post some pics one day of my little flat which my friends all describe as "country cottagey" Ive had the curtains in my bedroom since I was 15 (am 34 now!) cause they are all yellow and flowery and gorgeous! Everyone laughs when I talk about moving or redecorating etc cause its the same style wherever I go and now I know whats its called - SHABBY CHIC!!!!! :T :T :T

See you all in about 3 weeks when I catch up :D
