Remember the little sewing box I bought?

    and after ...

I'm quite pleased with it. I'm going to put all my sewing bits and bobs in it. I got another yesterday (that's 3 so far from same charity shop!)

Here is my first little project, didn't need a lot doing to it but I'm taking baby steps!
Bought it for £5 from the local recycling centre, it's to go in my hallway :)

After (Used F&B Dimity and a F&B sample pot for the drawer front)

Was more shabby before but I prefer it a bit neater looking lol

Lovely. What colour did you use for the drawer front?
  • Oh I spotted something else I'm yearning for on ebay (got to get a life and stop looking on there!)

needmoney - love the dresser and the 'slap dash' effect you got with the paint. That's just what I've done to a battered old cupboard I'm revamping. Two good coats of a light green and then a bit of a slap dash coat of a sort of jade/sage green ...............next step is some random skeleton leaves on the door panel, coat of varnish then a good wax with dark polish to finish off the 'distressed' look (I hope!)

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Maypole it's called Savage Ground :)

Bibbly That looks really good, you're lucky finding bits like that in your charity shops. I had a look in the local one that does furniture yesterday and there wasn't much decent stuff in there. What there was was really expensive. I know the money goes to charity, but the prices were almost silly!

Is it a special wax that you use for finishing an item? (after painting and varnishing). I've been reading the thread and assumed that people meant wax furniture polish, but now I'm not so sure...

I know, some of them are just ridiculous. This one that I go to is HUGE and they sell loads of furniture. Some of it seems a bit OTT but a lot of it is cheap as chips :j They have a huge turnover so I think that's why - as fast as stuff comes in it's sold though. I saw a lovely lovely pine dresser in there yesterday but it already had a sold sticker on it, and I'd only been in the day before

That sewing box that I've painted cost me £3. This footstool yesterday was free because someone had left it outside in the rain as it didn't have a fire label on it :T
