I do a weekly trawl of the charity shops here but never seem to have any good finds, however yesterday I picked up a little wooden egg stand for 99p and a wooden serving tray for £1.49. I am going to sand them down and give them a paint. I thought I'd start on something small so if I mess up I haven't spoilt something really special. I'm a bit down in the dumps as a dresser I had been watching on ebay all week got snapped up last night. It was fairly local to me AND the buyer had offered to deliver for just £15. I sooooo wanted it and was willing to pay for it out of my birthday money even though hubby is saying we should wait until we've moved. Oh well it wasn't to be BUT I will keep looking!
    £2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.

Mmmmm what do we have to do to start a weekly shabby thread??? and would you all agree that it would be easier??

Personally I think it would be much easier because I check this thread every day and never know which page was the last one I read! :o

I bought Haribo a pressie yesterday....it's particularly shabby chic....with more emphasis on shabby I must admit, but Haribo is now the proud owner of an old green mincer. She wanted it....honestly she did!

Why can't I get the vision of a camp Incredible Hulk out of my mind???
I know it's bad - sorry I'll get my coat.... :rotfl:

We don't have a Primark around here but we went to Lincoln on Saturday so I made a beeline for it.
Was soooooo disappointed - they had hardly any kitchen bits - just a few tea towels in the wrong colour for me and a lovely breakfast set of mug, bowl and tea plate, in a round hat type box, for £3. The pink one was lovely and spotty but they didn't have a blue spotty one.
Still, I AM supposed to be decluttering.
I had a mirror and a lamp earmarked for the charity shop but now I am thinking with a lick of paint and a new shade.... :D

How dare you?!!!LOL...I love my Kitchen Aid!!! Mind you I think I'm more retro than shabby chic!!

I have a kenwood chef about 25 years old, came free with our cooker. The damn thing will not wear out and I love the shape of the Kitchen Aid mixer, but will have to wait until the kenwood fails before I can get one:p

Not sure whether this is really "shabby chic" or "country cottage" but I've fallen in love with these:

Has anyone got any ideas about where I might get something similar without spending vast amounts of money?

These are stripey, but you could always recover them or check through the seller's other items to see if something else is better:

I think I am ok posting it as it does not advertise anything :)

Just had a look at your lovely blog - I think that I'm right in saying that your wire tray with the black handle is one of those clever ones that you can carry by your side with your arm hanging down and you won't spill the liquid from glasses of drink, even if your arm moves back and forth a little as you walk. It would be really useful for taking food and drink etc outside in Summer, or from room to room at any time.

    Oh dear,
My wish list is growing again... I want
    - a plate rack for the kitchen wall
    - a bureau (was out bid by a dealer on e-bay  )
    - Cath Kidston fabric
    - MORE retro / spotty china
... and now I want Bibbly's sewing box too :o

More time would be nice as I have fallen behind on my F&B-ing due to the bad weather, and keep tripping over the half-sanded bedroom chair!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
