Promise this is my last ever post on F&B!!!!!! but after all the worry about grease & sticky fingers thought I would just add in this quote from the website

    "Modern emulsion"
When usage demands complete washability and stain resistance, water based Modern Emulsion is the perfect alternative to Estate® Emulsion. With a slightly increased sheen level, this wall and ceiling paint is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and areas of high usage. Modern Emulsion is amongst the most environmentally friendly paints available.
    • Available in all colours.
    • Preparation use Water Primer & Undercoat or Stabilising Primer.
    • Environmentally friendly with low VOCs.
    • 10% sheen level.
Thanks for this Rachel I've just purchased F&B paint for my hall/stairs& landing (3 storeys). I was really panicking that I'd made the wrong choice after the posts here but just checked and its the Modern Emulsion -so PHEW!

I've just used Modern Emulsion for the kitchen and utility room and am very pleased with the results. (Used Estate Emulsion in living room, hall, stairs, landing and dining room - also pleased with it).

It's lovely paint to use and goes a very long way!

I am always going to charity shops. You need to pop in as often as you can to be honest within minutes you can see what's worth buying.I love speed thrifting where I set myself ten minutes and only buy what really grabs my attention. This week I picked up an old sewing box on legs that has is blackboard sides, perfect for my kitchen, for £3 and an old stripped overmantel shelf that will be perfect for my over my cooker for only £4.We were quoted over £100 to make one to size! I'll try and post a few photos.

'speed thrifting' - I love that, it makes me lol! In truth, I don't think I would be capable of it.....:o

I've never even heard of F&B's Modern Emulsion. Our Homebase only has Estate Emulsion or Oil Eggshell. I bought some Oil Full Gloss from their website for outdoors but never noticed the emulsion section. Is it new?

Its not new although most places don't stock it a bit like the 'dead flat oil' which is amazing for artwork, the lime paints, distempers etc, you have to order them, which homebase will do for no extra cost so cheaper than the postage cost if you buy online. If you've got a swatch card I think all the different paints are on the back......

btw has anyone had a sneak preview of the new colours......can't wait to see them in the flesh...cinder rose looks yum

I am so sad I must get out more.......

That cinder rose does indeed look loovely, and the pavilion gray. The new colour card is out today isn't it?
  • I wish I was nearer to this....I have wanted one of these for years & years...there must be someone close who could bid. Imagine it filled up with wonderful fabric, buttons & trimmings
