My instinct is to do all the sewing up first - yours? Partly I just want one evil job left (the bands), and partly I think the fronts would benefit from being attached, rather than flopping around. Given that the sleeves are already in the round, I won't be able to lay it all out flat, even if that's the idea between the instruction.
Thoughts?
If you want to knit the bands after you've done the rest of the finishing, I can't see it being a problem so long as you're using circular needles.

It's funny, Mum always much preferred straight needles, but after trying circulars I've done next to nothing on straights.
My procrastination is another pair of chunky hand-warmers. They'll grow fast ... apart from the wool keeps tangling as I am knitting both hands at once ... pulling from the inside and outside of the ball.
But I did find some buttons which will do if I can't find any that sing to me on my next trip to the LYS ...Signature removed for peace of mind2 -

The very first jumper that I knitted involved a v-neck collar, which I did on 11-inch DPNs. It was hell. I kept stabbing myself with the ends because the DPNs were too long. I don't have that jumper - I ended up hating it, even though I finished it. It was 100% acrylic, probably "Red Heart" brand, which didn't help. This was the 1970's and I was 11. I don't believe circulars were available then or they may just have been very expensive and far beyond my pocket money.
When I was 16, I knitted a jumper in pure wool with an Icelandic style yoke. That was knitted on a circular and I've rarely returned to straights since. I still have that jumper.
- Pip (I won't use DPNs for socks/hats/gloves over 8 inches in length. Beyond that, they're unmanageable.)"Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

I found the perfect buttons! Sadly, the shop only had two of them, and were unable to get more ...
However, a lot more squinting at their button tubes and I found another almost perfect set, at a price I was prepared to pay. bought plenty!Signature removed for peace of mind1 -

I have tackled and completed my UFOs including lengthening the sleeves and body on a top down jumper. Currently knitting a Postman Pat jumper (age 2 yrs) and a green lacy one (age 3 yrs). I've had the green wool for a while and this is the third pattern I've started with it but I'm still not sold, - but not sure I can face unravelling it again.

Knitting project wise, I am just finishing off a jumper for my toddler with Postman Pat in his van on the front. It's the most ambitious colour work I have ever done! It has set in sleeves (I think) instead of raglan sleeves which is also a first for me. It's a 1970s pattern.
I'm yet to really be converted to circulars. Still prefer my bamboo straights - I find the pin of circular needles is not long enough. My style is not very efficient and I knit like I'm wrestling, lots of elbow movement. Sometimes I wonder about following a knitting tutorial on Youtube to see if I can "fix" it but that seems like a lot of effort.
Savvy_Sue in my experience there is only ever one of the nicest button in the shop!3 -
Agree on the buttons. Still looking for the buttons for a cardigan I knitted about 3 years ago. First I bought, second choice and far to bright. Still find anything. I like is out of stock and can't be ordered. I tried online but twice the price and still nothing. I have bought some clear ones which I still haven't stitched on.I bought a couple of thin jumpers to wear before it gets too cold. One has gorgeous pearl buttons up the welt. They look like real pearls in a setting. They wont be real though or I could not have got it for £22. Being so short the sleeves are so long I have to push them up but the welt comes nearly to my elbow.I definitely need to take some off there are 5 on each sleeve. I'm wondering if they will look OK on the cardigan. I may have to stitch up the button hole because the button hole is too big.I hope this will not get deleted because of the new rules. Deramores have mystery yarn bundles for £25. They are worth £50+ I have had two. Both had six balls 50g of merino but they don't give you more than 2 in the same dye lot so 12 in all. I'm going to have some to do some colour work to use them. Between the two bundles I can match them all into 2 garments, I have 12 50g of cotton and have a nice bag pattern for them they will make nice presents. The rest is in acrylic but good quality anti pill, in DK, Baby soft, Aran and chunky. Of course they are still in two per dye lot which is usually enough for a child's garment or its colour work for adults, homewear or presents. 20 100g balls all of which retail at over £2.I'm not expecting to have to buy any more yarn for a few years. If you get any have a reel of selotape ready you may find some of the labels are a bit loose.4
