You ought to give magic loop a try - I use it all the time and it's really not so scary. I really like watching Liat Gat's videos as she talks it through step by step. I'd never heard of magic loop until I stumbled across one of her videos and that was it!

Mumof2 those socks look fab, we'll done you!
A pair of socks is on my to make this year I've never ever had a go but want to at least try. You have inspired me not to keep putting it off. Are the tutorial vids you mention on YouTube? As I think I'll give those a look.

    Hope everyone is well

Hi everyone, Mumof2 - your socks are lovely - Well done !
I am another one who has never knitted socks. I did buy wool from Lidl several years ago and ended up giving it to my friend as I knew I would not knit them. Wishing I had kept the wool now.

I am now knitting a very girlie pink lacy matinee jacket, just doing the yoke now and hopefully will have enough wool left to knit a lacy bonnet.

    Happy knitting xx

Check out the videos on this link from Liat Gat - she goes under the name of KnitFreedom. I actually paid and got the sock class from her but she explains how to do the fleegle heel (the one I did) on a free video under the socks section - you'll need to scroll down to it. I'm not an accomplished knitter by any stretch of the imagination so if I can do it I am sure you can!!

I use rosewood or plastic needles.. they are much quieter than metal.. or you could tell them to bog off you have to listen to their games an sport and tv rubbish.. this is your revenge! :p

Lol ! I do tell them to bog off but I get sick of the three of them moaning, so thanks to you and plum duff and I will try out your suggestions .
I used to knit loads when we were first married and when the boys were little OH used to moan then even though I made stuff for him too ! I am really enjoying knitting again .

I really should come to this thread more...

I had my first knitting machine lesson on Sunday. It's finally starting to make sense! I have another booked in two weeks time so I need to do some practice.

Hoping to be able to work up jumpers quickly.

:j Lovely to read so many posts :D

My new circular needles arrived today so this evening I have finished off the newborn vertebrae but doing the arm ribbing and the front pick up and knit/rib bands. As I had a little bit of the wool left I also made some little booties/shoes to match. I will take some photos tomorrow when the light is better!

That leaves me with 2 knitting Wip! I aim to finish the vintage romper suit tomorrow afternoon, It only needs some leg ribbing, collar and buttons sewing on. May make some of these very cute booties to match too:D

I must say I am very impressed with my new knit pro Zing circulars they feel great and sadly much better then my knit pro mablez! :o May have to add them to my wish list for chrstmas :rotfl:
