Finished a hat, but had to make some adaptions as it knits up very big. The pattern is called Downton, after the shape of the hats worn in the series.

Have added 4 rows of shirring elastic, sewn the edge of the brim to stop rolling, and wadding in the crown to hold the shape...

And it still looks dreadful on me :o

I went into Aldi today they have a book - knits for fab feet and cosy toes (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Knits-Feet-Cosy-Craft-Library/dp/0600623831/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365013335&sr=8-1) for £1.99, got lots of great sock patterns in it. They also had a four pack of DK wool for £4.99 and some large balls of baby wool.
Moo2moo - those socks look fantastic, glad you sorted them.

Cool! I'm going to Aldi tomorrow so I see what I can find...;)

Update: I came back with the Knits-Feet-Cosy book and two packs of scarf kits. Not so much to make scarves but because I liked the look of the fun fur for trimming a cushion cover I'm working on.(wink)

Just reading though one of the UK news papers on line I came across this snippet of information.

    Quote:
Kate, 31, also said that she and William had drawn up a list of boys’ and girls’ names for their first child – and that she has taken up knitting. ‘I’ve been trying to knit and I’m really bad. I should be asking for tips,’ she said.

    Full story here.

Found this on Facebook and thinking about knitting some of the mice - they look fantastic!

Sorry I can't do a link as the link I was given was broken. If you use Facebook do a search for Mile of Mice and you should be able to find it. I believe it is also on Ravelry.

    Hi everyone,
Shame about the hat cuddles, it looks lovely too. I have found a lot of hats knit big on me and now I have short hair my head is actually smaller than average!
I have come bag from holibags with more sock yarn (was half price in Hobbycraft but went through at less than that!), a sock knitting book, and some fine mohair yarn. A friend of hubby's also bought me a lovely knitting book from his holidays, so I think he will be moving up the list for a pair of knitted socks lol!
    Hope all are well

Latest project- belated birthday socks for DH. Size 10. Didn't really take that long but I knitted some other things and went for a 10 day holiday in between starting and finishing them.

I started knitting just under a year ago - purely to knit toys. I enjoy it but HATE the sewing up. I'm rubbish at it! Still having problems with messy edges : (

I'm finishing a bear just now and after that I plan to try out knitting in the round, lace and cable.

Here is the last thing I made. She took me ages!!!
