Attempting colourwork but despite going up a needle size things are coming out rigid, which isn't particularly helpful when knitting socks.
I can't get these over my heel :( and they're too big to turn into gloves.

Did you keep the floats loose at the back of the work?
You normally stretch the stitches out over the right needle as you pass the wool behind before knitting the next stitch in the other colour. This stops the knitting tension becoming too tight.

  • That's really nice orkneystar. Very pretty. Well I finished a hoody for dd that has been on the needles for about 3 years :o. I hated the wool. It was called snowball and was horrible to knit with so I am happy it is eventually finished. I do like it mind you :D

I have made a hoody in that yarn, years ago, best thing was seeing it finished! Not sure if the child it was made for ever wore it though!

Well I've finished my bag, and managed the applied icord :D

Can't decide what type of handles would look best - knitted icord, leather, wood, plastic?

    Any thoughts?
