Sorry cuddles- seems like you are to be the guinea pig for this one!
This is what I have been working on lately-using up sock yarn oddments, a simple garter stitch shawl. Hope to have it finished to take when me and DS go to visit granny at Easter- 4 weeks so should be do-able if I stick at it and don't work on other things as well!

It's very quiet on here at the moment.

Just wondering if anyone can give advice on applied I cord?
I'm thinking of starting a project that needs it, but have never tried it :-)

Do you mean at the edges?

I am knitting a jacket at the moment which has i-cord front edges where the zip will go, along the bottom and cuffs. Its knitted as you go along.

I can tell you how I'm doing it. It's really easy looks really good.

Attempting colourwork but despite going up a needle size things are coming out rigid, which isn't particularly helpful when knitting socks.
I can't get these over my heel :( and they're too big to turn into gloves.

I knit colour-work inside-out and it makes for much more even and less tight knitting. This link is for a circular needle but you could do it with dpn's too.
I also find that going up a needle size helps with colour work, or even two sizes. I would normally use a 2.25mm for socks, would use at least a 2.5 and more likely a 2.75mm for standard 4 ply sock yarn colourwork.

I hope this is of some help for the future.
Shame about the socks as they look lovely!
