  • Have a look on youtube, I could tell you til the cows came home how to do them, but nothing is better than actually seeing it. It's very simple to do. I actually taught my cousin (who couldn't knit at all) how to make one a week ago, and she has already finished, I think it's easier than "proper" knitting LOL.

I bet you took a shopping trip to Lidls to get that wool didn't you ;)

I only know as I bought some too and made myself a pair of socks which are now going to be a christmas present for my dad's girlfriend as she took a liking to them.

It might be sideways knitted. In which case be extra careful with tension (as I know to my cost!)

the pattern show it is double garter stitch - I presume that means K2 rows P 2 rows!
But re the wool, yes I would think Aran will be fine - esp as it shows 5mm needles.
But as said , always do a tension square.
    nice pattern though.

I'm pleased to say that you ladies have shamed me into getting on with my cardigan. It's amazing how quickly I was able to get over my mental block and am now almost finished it. I think I'll have it done by Wednesday evening (fingers crossed!). So I would like to say thanks very much for helping me to get over my mental block with the sleeve length n this pattern and a swift kick up the behind to get along with it :)

Oh no Orkneystar. I hope you get better soon. Retreat to bed if you can with a good book and a hot water bottle (or take a big pile of my clean washing with you to fold if you would get bored ;)).

OrkneyStar, so sorry to hear that you are unwell. Rest up, take it easy and I'm sure before you know it you'll be back knitting again :)

Great excitement here as got my wool arrived - got some Debbie Bliss luxury tweed chunky in lavender (half price too :j!) which I am going to try doing the famous Owls jumper with but first am doing my daughter a waistcoat with some lovely red/pink/orange mix Sirdar Escape Chunky in Ravishing - ooo errr! Been busy watching my e-book from KNITFreedom and learning so much; certainly keeping me out of mischief;).

Can I ask, when you do a swatch do you always do the size they suggest or do you do it smaller and work out if it would be the required size if scaled up iyswim?

So sorry to hear that you're still not well Orkney - :(
Is this still connected to the HF&M that you and your son had?

As everyone has said, rest up and take it easy. You must be REALLY ill if you can't knit
Still, it will give the worlds stock of yarns time to recover ;););)
