    Thanks everyone,
got the lace fronted jumper finished last night and i spoke to ds regarding the blanket, he doesnt want one so it will be going onto my bed!
he did ask for a scarf and was told to raid the wool stash and pick what he wanted to its a blue scarf on the needles at the moment, its really boring knitting it though so may do some more squares in between.
I will post a pic of the new jumper later on.
my button supply is runnign dangerously low though so i need to go and re stock.............. at the wool shop just hope i manage to keep my resolve and not buy any more wool.
    happy knitting folks

tooties. Shame you DS doesn't want the blanket but you win - a blanket.

I have never knitted a blanket before but have done lots of crocheted ones and I must say I have found them quite difficult to get rid of. I used to do them for old people's homes but it seems a lot of authorities stipulate now that they have to be fire retardant so the homes can't take them. If they do take them they always seem to have too many. The last one I offered to a home, they couldn't take but said they would put it in their next sale of work, so presumably it went to someone who really wanted it.

I'm looking forward to seeing the pink lacy cardigan. I'm doing a pink lacy cardigan too, well that's what the pattern says it is, but to my mind it's not that lacy just a few holes but I like the pattern because the band is knitted in with the fronts and I hate sewing on bands and I'm not keen on picking up stitches either so this is right up my street.

I will TRY and post a picture when it's done, but don't hold your breath.

You're doing well resisting buy wool. I did buy one ball yesterday but I will send it to my aunt as she will like it for bedsocks. CLOSE but I've not fallen yet!!!!

Fantastic, they look like a pair of bumblebees...what cuties.

I dread to think how much they would have cost if you wanted to buy them from a 'doggie' boutique.

How lovely are all those baby clothes, I always find them a bit fiddly, I like a good few stitches to work with.

Tooties that pink jumper is perfect, not a stitch out of place.
I'm with cazarol, on them being fiddly, my DD had always grown out of them before I finished them.

  • Hi, Ive just started knitting again after about 15/20 yrs, I saw in Wilkinsons 3 for 1.00 on thier wool so thought Id give it a try again, I thought I would knit a scarf for my daughter and it said to cast on 20 stiches and just keep going through the whole 3 balls, so Ive nearly done that, although I did start with 20 stiches I now have 34!!:o
Not really sure how thats happened, but it is a 'fancy' wool with all 'fluffy bits' on it, not really the best wool to use but at 3 for 1.00!!! but it is nearly going to be time to cast off and I dont remember how to do that:o
I would be extreamly gratefull if someone could explain to me how to do it?
Thankyou very much, Ive had a quick scan through this thread and love the pics of the things people on here have knitted, I'll just stick to scarves at the mo!!:rotfl:
I miss my mum every minute of every day  R.I.P xx

New mum, knit 2 stitches, then poke your left needle (one with all the stitches on) into the first stitch you knit. Lift that stitch over the second stitch and off the needle.
Knit another stitch and then lift the first stitch on the needle over the one you've just done.
Repeat until just one stitch left, make the stitch big and pass the wool through it and pull it tight(ish)
With a tapestry or darning needle, weave in the tails...from the casting on and the casting off.
    Does that make sense?
