It's got colder and I'm starting to want to knit again. has wool gone up, like everything else ? Keiss, if those socks at the top of the page are yours then I knitted a pr in the very same wool, the winey/burgundy ones at the right hand side. Funny how you want to start knitting the very first day yer toes get cold eh :) I need to go and find who has good offers on wool now. MUCH better idea than doing the hoovering eh !
I knit throughout the year, taking mine everywhere I go. It's more sociable than X-stitch, where I need to concentrate more and have a good light source.

That brown wool is Trekking and was perfect for my Dad. He tends to wear brown shoes and trousers and supports Hearts FC, so a bit of maroon was a bonus!!!

Didn't do any knitting yesterday, dyed some fabric with my Quilting club. Going to rinse it out today, can't wait to see what how the colours have turned out!!

    Have a great day all.

My knitting has come to a bit of stand still at the moment, I seem to knit so slowly, haven't even got the knack of holding the needles independently yet

I found it much easier if I held the right handed needle like a pen, i.e. with my thumb tucked under the needle. It's quicker to knit that way, too, because you aren't dropping the needle to make a stitch.

I have that wool too, was going to be a pair of Nutmeg socks but frogged them so not sure what it will become! Talking of football, anyone seen any Dundee Utd wool ? (orange and black ?).

I have lots and lots of double knitting wool and grandchildren who all have one of the Build a Bear teddies. I wanted to knit them some clothes for their Teds because the outfits from the shop are expensive and my wool is just sitting there waiting to be used up. Does anyone know where I could find any knitting patterns that would fit. They all have the 16-18 inch type bear I think (they all seem to have big round tummies) or any sewing patterns that fit would be good either. I am not that experienced a knitter so wouldn't really be able to adapt patterns. I have spotted one pattern on Ravelry but that's it so far and I am sure there must be lots out there on t'internet!

babyblooz have you tried Knitting Pattern Central? It takes a while to find what you want as you have to click on each link to find out what it is, but I'll be amazed if there's not something to suit your bears.

ETA Cuddles love the football mug! I might have to make some of those for my sons - they support different teams but by chance both have the same colours (Cardiff City and Bristol Rovers - both blue & white) so I only have to buy one lot of wool. Great stocking fillers!
Oh dear, here we go again.

    Cool Cup Warmers Cuddles :).
I whipped this up tonight, as a wee change from my current WIP's!

The pattern is for a bookmark, which I intend to use it as, although it might make a nice tag for a present or embellishment for a card or something or other.....

Thanks Jennyjelly! Knitting Central did indeed have some teddy bear items. I am having a quick look at it now and then am going to bookmark it so I can go back and have a better look later! :j:j

Thank you so much NannyJanny. I'll give it a go later and let you know how I do. I realised it had to be the sort of reverse of p2tog but I was interpreting ss as slip stitch not slip, slip. Fingers crossed!

I went back to the Ugg boots tonight and the slip, slip, knit worked perfectly! Just need to sew them up and do the decorative stitching. First I need to look at some Uggs online to see how the seam goes over the instep!;)

Just had a bit of catching up to do on this thread.

I am also researching darning in ends at the moment as DIL bought some Millmia for me to knit cowls for GD's. The wool knits up so beautifully that I feel I need to finish off likewise beautifully!

    http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/FEATfall04TT.html may help.
I haven't read the whole article yet, but I have found Knitty to be a good source of information for techniques.

    Good luck

    Thanks for this NJ

In the end I just did what I usually do and threaded the end of the new ball into the end of the old ball and in effect knitted the two strands together. You can't really see where I've done it and as it's a blanket shouldn't be noticeable by the time I've knitted it all up.
