Hello everyone. I've just frogged the Debbie Bliss bolero Cathay pattern. I don't know whether I knitted the wrong size or I've lost weight (ever hopeful!) but it really needs to be a size smaller now. Questiion is - would you just re-knit with yarn as is or would you wash it, rewind it round say back of chair to get kinks out? Interested to hear what other folks would say/do. Thanks all.

I'd wash it, wind it into hanks on the back of a chair and dry it in the tumble dryer. But I'm picky :)
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

King Cole does a chunky. You can get cheaper chunkies if you're willing to have more acrylic in the acrylic/wool mix.

Personally speaking I do cheaper mixes for GD's clothes as they're always in the washing machine. (The jumpers, not the GD's). If I'm doing a request for someone adult, e.g. Aran that takes a lot of work, I buy a more expensive wool as they will not grow out of it, and hopefully will wash it carefully.

  • I've just got back from my day at the Stitch & Craft and I've had a fab day. I did the "learn to crochet" workshop as I've never got past doing a chain and I now feel confident to tackle a little project!!
I bought some Can Can wool to knit two ruffle scarves £8.95 and a skein of 4ply alpaca, cashmere & silk mix £15.30 (extravagant!) to make a lacy scarf for myself. Also 3 patterns - 2 different lacy shawls and a sock pattern working from the toe up. That together with the rest of my stash will keep me going until the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace.
I'm not sure if there were any real bargains but there were a lot of people buying half price Patons wool just inside the door.
If anyone else is going have a good time - I did!!!

Oooh long sigh. Sounds like my ideal of heaven. Glad you had a lovely day. Must go sometime, although I don't know if I could be trusted to be sensible....

Still you can never have too much wool. My latest project is a request for a scarf for a toy bunny! Nice to just dive in the cupboard and choose colours etc. I can see that he may also need trousers, jacket etc.

  • Home Bargains today had all sizes of knitting needles. mostly coloured metal although the bigger sizes were plastic. Prices started at 49p and the most expensive I could see were sizes 12 and 15mm which were 59p. also had stitch holders, stitch markers and circular needles.

    Hello ladies

First post on this thread although I do come and have a look at all the lovely creations!
I just received an email with a link to a range of Debbie Bliss FREE downloadable patterns for some lovely jackets. The website is called 'All about you' and seems magazine related.

I am not even registered with them but have downloaded a pattern.

Only problem with Kemps is that they don't give the guage of their yarns.
