If you are using 4mm needles, usually used for DK ie 8ply, when knitting with 2 ply, then I would assume that you would use 4.5mm needles, usually used for aran or 12 ply, when knitting with 4 ply.
But perhaps someone better than me at mathematics can see a different ratio that needs to me followed? What we really need is someone who can work out a formula or equation to express the relationship between needle size and yarn, but I'm afraid that that is beyond me!
Thanks for trying to work it out for me Seakay. In fact my MIL tried to work out the pattern and we came to the conclusion that it wasn't the pattern for me. I did however find a nice lace shawl in one of my magazines and have managed to get hold of the pattern which luckily I can use my 4 ply with so I have now started that and it is looking nice so far.Did owe £9,951.96

I've voted for yours too - not because you asked, but because he's obviously the best
. You've really captured the character especially with the big shirt collar - a brilliant effort!:T:T:T
Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever
