Great excitement here too - finished all the knitting for DS's jumper (even picked up stitches to do neckband so feeling very smug :A) so all I have to do is sew it all together. Can't wait :j:j:j!

Oh dear, here we go again.
  • Hi everyone, I have nearly finished knitting a cardi for myself in Sirdar Crofter dk, it looks like a shetland knitting pattern but is actually all stocking stitch - quite amazing !!!
Now comes the hard part, I HATE sewing up then picking up stitches for button and neck bands.

I am in a rush to finish this as I can't wait to start knitting baby clothes, Daughter in law had scan yesterday and date confirmed as 4th August. Really looking forward to knitting baby clothes.

    Happy knitting.

  • Hi everyone

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as ebay and google are proving fruitless.

I'm just a novice knitter, my mum gave me some wool she had from an unravelled jumper she couldn't be bothered to finish. I thought it would be lovely to make her a wrap with it for her birthday at the end of April - but I'm halfway though the wool and only 1/4 through the pattern, I'm going to be about 400g short. Can anyone help me trace this old wool or tell me what might be a good substitute? I don't really want to change colour or tewture and make it like a coconut ice effect

It's Sirdar Coloursoft 2000 in mohair cream

(I'm in France to add to the complication, so online is best, good local wool shops are non existent here)

There is a UK knitter on Ravelry with 14 skeins in cream, for sale or trade!

You will need to be a member of Ravelry to look at the link:

    Good luck!

I've had a look at the project on Ravelry, because I'm not registered to view the link on the website. I take it you are working on the Mura mystery shawl? I've knitted quite a number of lacy shawls, so I hope I can reassure you that you are definitely going to end up with a triangle.

It looks to me that Part One is the 'Set Up' - it will look like a semi circle on you needle.

Part Two is the main body of the shawl. It will get longer and it will get wider, but you won't be able to see the shape because it is bunched up on your needle.

Part Three (I guess) will be the finishing edges and the cast off.

The finished shawl looks lovely, so keep going! And good luck.

I have tried to knit this pattern in the 2 ply laceweight I bought but because I keep going wrong and can't work out where abouts (and even if I could I was having trouble unpicking the stitches) I have decided I am going to try knitting it in a 4 ply instead.

Can anyone suggest which size needles I should go for as the pattern currently states 4mm but if I'm knitting it in a thicker yarn I want the lace effect to still show.

I'm a complete novice with things like this so would appreciate any help at all.
