Hello Ladies
I wonder if any of you know of an alternative to using Patons Shadow Teed wool - I'd like to knit one of those lovely chunky scarves that people are wearing at the moment.
I seen the wool in Dunelm today and it was £4.95 per ball! Yikes!
Also, would anyone perhaps have a pattern at all, or tell me what size needles I need to use?
Thanks
Sal

Hi anyone know how I can work out the british sizes for needles from an american pattern. I want to know what size U.S 13, 15, & 19 are in Britain
I haven't a clue how to swap the sizes over or where to search online for a sizing gauge. I have a pattern I want to knit for a puppy coat for my DD but its an american pattern0 -

last year i knitted one of the very popular scarfs, using one of the kits available which held a pair of size 4mm needles and 3 balls of 50g fashion yarn, and a pattern which was row 1 (rs), knit. row 2 k2, p36 k2. i am not an experienced knitter by any imagination, but even this pattern seemed beyond me as i could not pick it up and remember by just looking at the stitch what row i was on. so i unpicked it and decided to just knit every row which was so much easier and certainly did not take anything away from how lovely it looked when finished, or how many compliments i received about it. it looked very professional. today i was able to get hold another bag of the exact same kit and was wondering whether i would we able to knit a pair of gloves to match. firstly they would have to be in plain knit stitch and then comes main problem, being i have never knitted a pair of gloves before. i have looked on the many sites and they all look a bit beyond me even allowing for the fashion yarn hiding a multitude of sins. could someone recommend a particular first timer glove pattern that they themselves have knitted and found to be very easy and yet look very professional. a tall order i know but not too tall i am sure for us mse :T0

how about knitting fingerless gloves or wristwarmers, thed'd be easier than knitting glovesenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0

I would knit mittens as they are easier and keep you warm. The finger bit on gloves are quite difficult. I've only tried once though, to be fair.0
