Sounds like you are nearly finished, well done.
Can't thank you enough, charlies_mum, you've kept me on track! Making lots of progress now and can see how the cardi is shaping out, so excited! Seriously, this is the biggest thing since sliced bread for me!!
I had a quick scan down the pattern, and I thought I ought to warn you that I WILL be back asking for more help, but I decided just to wait till I get there, for fear of totally confusing myself!
I'm dying to get back into crochet, should be meeting up with a freecycler this week who's donating some knitting needles and a single crochet hook to me lol! I haven't crocheted since I was knee-high, so I will have serious issues with that!! Look out, I'll be haunting you all!!

Ok, I'm seriously stuck again, and whilst I've demonstrated my lack of knowledge in following a pattern
I'm actually thinking that there's an error in the pattern! I apologise in advance for asking and for posting such a big part of the pattern, but it's the only way I can think of to explain where I'm coming from!
For example, the right side of my cardi went like this:
Row 2: BO 1 st, p to last 3 sts, k1, p1, k1.
Row 3: K1, p1, k to end.
Row 4: P to last 3 sts, k1, p1, k1.
Row 5: K1, p1, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 [start of raglan shaping].
Row 6: P to last 3 sts, k1, p1, k1.
Repeat rows 5 and 6 twice more.
Next row [second buttonhole]: K1, yo, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Next row: P to last 3 sts, k1, p1, k1.
Repeat rows 5 and 6 three times.
Next row[last buttonhole]: k1, yo, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Next row: Repeat row 6.
Begin neck shaping:
Row 1:BO 6 sts, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Row 2 [and all wrong side rows]: Purl.
Row 3: BO 2 sts, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Row 5: BO 1 st, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Continue purling WS rows, and repeat Row 5 1[ 2, 3] times-- 4 sts remain [all sizes].
Next row: K1, k2tog, k1.
Next row: Purl.
Next row: Sl 1, k2tog, psso, fasten off.
Ignoring the buttonholes, I assumed the left side would essentially follow the pattern in reverse. However, this is the instruction for the left front:
Left Front
With RS facing, rejoin yarn to the remaining 26[ 28,30] sts.
BO 1, k to last 2 sts p1, k1.
Next row: K1, p1, k1, p to end.
Next row: K to last 2 sts, p1, k1.
Next row: K1, p1, k1 p to end.
Begin raglan shaping:
Row 1: K1, ssk, k to last 2 sts, p1, k1.
Row 2: Purl.
Repeat these two rows until work measures the same as right front to neck shaping. Work neck shaping to match right front, reversing all shapings.
Now aside from anything else, the issue I have is the one highlighted. The pattern has moss stitch along the bottom and up each edge of the two fronts. If I purl this row each time, I'm going to lose the moss stitch.
I'd be really grateful if someone could take the time to have a look and advise me if it's a simple as continuing my moss stitch where appropriate, but follow the rest of the pattern as stated......
Thank you so much - I'm working on this cardi for my cousin who is due her baby in a week's time and it's the first time I've attempted this - I know she'll totally appreciate the effort!

Hi Aeshna
Basically, the left front should be exactly the same as the right front with the shapings reversed. If you have done the border stitches in moss stitch on the right front, then you need to do it on the left also. It won't be the first time a pattern has been wrongYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Thank you sooooooo much, charlies_mum, I think you're turning into my personal saviour when it comes to knitting!!! Your time is very much appreciated! Right, back to this cardi!!

Will there be a huge intake of breath if I sneak in here and ask for help again? Fed up with me yet?
I can't figure out how to do the neck shaping on the opposite side. I thought I should just reverse the neck shaping for the first side, for instance where it starts with bind off 6 stitches, I should now end with that. But how do I bind off in reverse?? Aaarrghhh. I really wanted to get on with this much earlier but had visitors, so I think I need to put it away now, it's too late for my brain to function!

You simply cast off on a pearl row instead of a knit oneDon't worry, you're not causing any trouble, hope you will post a piccie of this cardi when it is finished

Thank you charlies_mum! Yes, I eventually had a voice shouting in my head and it was saying ' for goodness sake, how stupid are you, purl it woman!'
Happily knitting a couple of arms now, easy peasy, so I'm just going to relax and enjoy this bit before I have to concentrate again!! And you'll most certainly get a pic of the finished item, even if it ends up lopsided with three arms :rotfl:

I've finished knitting the cardi  :j Just have the sewing up to do and that's it all done!!! (just as soon as I get a needle to suit, but I'm sure my mother will have a few tucked away) I can't believe it, despite the fact that I'm sure there were probably easier patterns out there!!! There's an option to do a little embroidering, very simple backstitch, which I'm going to do on this too. I started, lol, may as well see it all through, even if the new baby doesn't actually wear it and it gets consigned to a drawer somewhere, at least I'll be proud of my effort! Anyhow, once it's totally complete, I'll post a pic.
I'm going to try another shortly, but I'll be looking for a simpler pattern I think, not sure I could go through that again at this stage, lmao! In the meantime, I'm off to try a couple of buntings for the preemies.
Thanks for everyone's help and encouragement, I couldn't have done it without you, especially charlies_mum
