You're an absolute star - thanks so much :beer:0 -
Any recommendations for baby wool? I'm going to knit a few bits and pieces for a friend's baby and I found some gorgeous wool. But I've just twigged it's hand wash only which is obviously going to be totally impractical:o
Ideally I'd like some unusual dyes or colours.0 -
Great link maytaurus....my late mother used to hang a weight of some kind....tin of food etc...on the damp unravelled hank of wool and it used to take out the kinks with no problem...long time since I've unravelled wool but thinking of a few sweaters which might be suitable

Hope there's something there for you all mad keen knitters.

Hi, this is my first post on this thread - I'm so glad a friend pointed it out.
Luckily I live close enough to walk to this shop :T, it really is an Aladdin's cave. Watch out for some even greater bargains in the very near future - nudge, nuge, wink, wink. I bought some Patons Inca there yesterday for 69p a ball, so DH will be getting a new sweater.

Has anyone ever done this and, if so, could you let me have any tips please?
Thanks

My late mother and aunt used to do this during the war and one trick they used to do was to wind the yarn around jam jars which they'd put into a steamer - over a pan of hot water, to get the kinks out. It was much easier than winding into hanks and washing as there was less chance of it tangling. Once the yarn was re-knitted they would just wash the new garment.
I hope this helps. Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever
