yes I knew about keeping toilet seat down and shutting door to stop luck flowing out, but didnt know youre not supposed to keep plants in bathrooms - went home lunchtime and moved my money plant out of bathroom and into living room, hopefully in the s.e. corner!

Elona: could you p.m. me with money spell, I'd like to try that - every little helps!

I havent read this thread until today, but it brought something to mind. I read a little basic Feng Shui a while ago and placed some money symbols where it said to and then forgot about it.

I recently had some unexpected little sums of money but didn't connect them to the symbol. I recently lost a little part time job and have had no more money sums. I am saying this because the thread reminded me that I had moved the symbol and shut it in a cupboard, I have just got it back out record fast:D

The only thing that worries me about Feng Shui is although I am not what you'd call religious I do kinda believe in God and the fact that up to now I've had a reasonably good life in most areas of it. it smacks a little bit of magic to me and makes me a bit afraid. Please understand I am not saying this to offend anyone more so looking for reassurance I suppose. Now I've written that Ifeel a bit daft. I do believe in 'what you sow you reap' and 'Karma', positive negative etc. though. I'd be interested in any thoughts.

    Hi needmoney

I don't think you are being daft, it does make you wonder, especially after what you said about moving your money symbols.

I also believe in the karma and positive thinking etc. Having been a natural pessimist and born worrier I am trying to adopt the positive thinking bit and live in the present moment.

I think there is a lot in this world we don't understand. We lived in a bungalow 3 years ago for about 4 years which I am pleased to say we left.

Whilst we lived there, nothing improved in our lives. When I read a bit about Feng Shui, it seemed our bungalow was in a poor location, looked down upon by 2 very tall houses and in a dark stagnant corner, with a bend in the road opposite.

The previous owner had died in or from that home and now 3 years later it is up for sale again.

This house we have now is a better position and is on a slight slope up from the road....I have yet to read some more and am going to get hold of a compass and sort out my rooms and furniture etc, having read this thread.

I think we need an open mind and if it works for us and brings us happiness, then it can't be bad. Whose to say it does or doesn't work? surely it's worth a try?

and moving your stuff round is always interesting.....

Good Luck and hope your symbol works again for you.

    this thread just reminded me:

for years I was a single parent - doing the usual rounds of trying to find someone else.
When I remember reading abit of feng shui and something about putting red in your bedroom to bring someone into your life. anyway i put some red cushions on top of my bed - I then met someone and we are now married with a further 2 lovely children! :D so maybe it wasnt stupid idea?

so maybe its time i read up again to try and get the other areas of my life sorted - e.g. work and moving house.
  • Hi needmoney...I know what you mean about being worried about 'magic', the thought also crossed my mind.
The way I see it is OH and I give to a local charity on a monthly basis, also when I buy from auctions I often have things in amongst the old stuff that are too modern to fit in with my antiquey things that I sell so they go to charity shops (as well as the family clothes etc.) I also spend quite a lot at charity shops too
I believe in Karma and the idea that if you are 'good' then 'good' will come back to you, the gifts that I mentioned in the 'see a penny' thread I saw as a reward for trying to being a nice person in the past and it spurs you on to be even more generous with your time, money or kindness. Since our finances took an upward curve we feel that we should be helping others even more and have taken on another monthly charity commitment. This is not done for more reward, it's the other way around, we were rewarded with a little extra, this boosts the feelgood atmosphere in the house and we pass this on.

This doesn't explain why Feng Shui works, assuming that it does. I can grasp the idea that if your surroundings are neat and ordered with no clutter and chaos then you feel more relaxed and maybe more productive and positive - I can also understand about waterfalls, fish tanks and healthy green plants also making you happier - but I don't understand why moving these things around your house and putting them in certain places will help your health, career or finances.
I know that millions of Chinese people do this, lots of Westerners do this also and so long as I do this with a sharing and caring attitude then I can't see the harm.
