I thought that was odd as well but she told her dad the same when he rang to check! have now told her that if I don't get her measurements will guess her size and she'll just have to hope it fits :rotfl:

Maybe you should just tell her that if you can't get her dress sorted out, she will have to wear her vest & knickers with her posh shoes, a bit like when you forget your PE kit at school :)

AND that her dad will make sure there are photos & will keep copies for every boyfriend she ever has ;)
  • OOh,I forgot about the lingerie!!!
I have not budgeted anything for that.Right at the beginning of my wedding planning I asked hubby about his requirements for a bride as regards dress etc,did he want a traditional bride in a white dress?did he have an idea in his mind about how he would like his bride to look?would he be upset if I wore something in a non-traditional style or in a vibrant colour?.He said,"I dont mind what you wear just as long as you have suspenders on underneath".
I think I had better look at lingerie then.
I just remembered he also said that he wouldnt mind a bit of cleavage either:rolleyes:

Had thought along those lines but have never seen her in anything other than baggy tops and tracky bottoms so not prepared to risk it. I've already put my foot down about pink bridesmaid dresses which was what she was after.

  • I have only budgeted for a very simple ivory dress from debenhams but have just found this.gothic-wedding-dress.jpgIt has my name written all over it, but its £2,000!!!How fantastic is that dress though?I can really see myself in it.

This is the one I have budgeted for.Just a little bit plainer then.I can have purple accessories if I like though.20061221_008010421085_MED.JPG

Found a website with some gorgeous floral designs using thistles.http://www.scottish-wedding-flowers.co.uk
They use artificial flowers but I will look at their designs for ideas to make my own real floral arrangements.

I think I have found a really lovely compromise on the dress front, simple and elegant style but PURPLE!!!:T It also has a matching bolero. What do you think? Its not a wedidng dress as such but I think it will do the job,and I love it:D 20071130_008010612953_LRG.JPG

....Just a little bit plainer then...../quote]

The purple one is gorgeous, but I do like the simplicity of the other one.... what flowers are you thinking of?
  • I know I want to use thistles and also roses with lots of dark green foliage.I saw a beautiful arrangement in a leaflet we got through from NEXT last month but I cant find it anywhere now,it had rich velvety red roses, sea holly and quite a bit of purple somethings(dont know what they were),it sounds a bit gaudy but it was superb.
Depends what dress I end up with though and I have still to really decide on my final colour choice.
I have it down to 2 though, either mainly rich purple or very subtle with ivory and dusky pink.

The Scottish Wedding Flowers site is brilliant, thanks so much for posting it shelovestobuystuff. I really want to check out Priorwood Dried Flower shop in Melrose as well.

I love that dusky pink dress, it's beautiful. Do you happen to know which M&S stores in Scotland stock the bridal range? Princes Street doesn't and I couldn't find them in Argyle Street in Glasgow. Having thought it was ridiculous to get a dress this early I keep seeing ones I like, I take it all back...
