My Easy Yo has arrived this morning. Bit busy to get it on tho', as I will need to read up about it first.

You only need a few minutes if using a packet, sort of a 1., 2., 3. done! :D
  • Hi..I am new.
I have read lots of the advice on using Easiyo with milk etc. Iwould like to use skimmed mik ( UHT ?) . My question is...I have an Aga and was wondering if putting the Easiyo container on or near it would help avoid the problem of not setting and having to top up with more hot water...or whether it would ruin my efforts ! Any ideas gratefully received .
  • The Easiyo container is insulated, so I'm not sure putting it on the Aga will make much difference

Post exactly what you do, and we may be able to suggest improvements to your method :D

I'm not sure how to find this ongoing discussion when I log back in. Any idea where I go ? Do I put 'yogurt making ' into the search or what ???
    Many Thanks
  • Oh ...and If I use the UHT use skimmed milk and skimmed milk powder method , can I use some of the easiyo yogurt powder as a starter? If so how much ? Might as well use up the stuff that comes with the kit and then start using a cheaper probiotic yog starter afterwards. I'm trying to get the lowest calorie/ fat yog I can ( for Slimmers World diet ).
    Thanks ,Sara

OK had to laugh at this and share with you - I made up a peach mixture yesterday with my new method (warm water plus 1cm extra boiling water in the flask) and then wrapped the flask in a tea towel etc.

Now this has made a really nice thick gloopy yogurt in the past but … well, I!forgot it. Just remembered it was there and opened it up thinking all would be ruined as they say you can leave it up to 24 hours if necessary … well this was 36 hours! and basically I have yogurt so thick I can barely stir a spoon around in it! Tastes great too.

Sui-Generis - the last batch of Raspberry yoghurt I made was so thin I could drink it so for my next batch I think I'll try your method of using warm water and leave it longer, as I like my yoghurt really thick. I'm wondering whether the colder weather we've been having with lower indoor temperatures may possibly have been a contributing factor.
  • I love my easiyo, I was wondering if anybody has tried to make ice lollies in the summer, can the yougurt be frozen?
I must say my son choose the caramel flavoured one and i didnt fancy it, But i gave it a try, and its yummy, tastes a bit like creme caramel!!
Also wanted to ask, have I got this right, I use 1l of uht, and a 2 tps of the easiyo packet powder and 2tps of skimmed milk powder and it will make yougurt???

Well my kitchen is unheated and freezing overnight! Never noticed it until about 4 years ago, I suppose they thought having the boiler in there plus normal use would be enough - well its not any more…!

So with that in mind I stood the last batch on a tea towel (the flask) and covered the flask with another to reduce convection. I usually leave it for 15-18 hours now but completely forgot this one!

To recap: I use warm (not hot) water when I make up the mix and fill the flask to about 1cm above the usual level then wrap as above and leave for about 15-18 hours. HTH
