I occasionally buy this yogurt as me and the kids think it is yummy (OH won't touch yogurt of any kind:rolleyes: ). It is pricy though-£1.89 for 450g.
Using the same method for 'yaourt a la creme' in my earlier post and enthused by the realisation that I could flavour the yogurt in the yogurt-maker I've had a go at replicating it. It has been a resounding success even if I say so myself:j :j
When I first tasted it I thought I'd put way too much coconut in as the coconut had all risen to the top. But I gave it a stir and the coconut was evenly distributed through the yogurt. It is, perhaps a little less thick than Rachel's but still delicious. Rachel's coconut yogurt contains yogurt, cream, sugar and coconut so that 's what I have used (though not organic).
Method
Carefully mix
1 pot of wholemilk natural yogurt
2 tbsp creme fraiche I imagine double cream will work just as well.
60 g desiccated coconut
2 tbsp caster sugar
Whisk in 1 litre of wholemilk (actually I used just under a litre as an entire litre wouldn't fit in my yogurt maker with the extra ingredients)-I used UHT but if using fresh bring it to boiling point and allow to cool to room temp before using.
Pour into yogurt maker and leave for about 8 hours.
Refrigerate it and when cold stir well to evenly distribute the coconut.
Coconut yogurt is gorgeous with pineapple or mango.
I'm going to try chocolate yogurt next;)0 -

I have an easiyo and used to make my own all the time (without the mixes) but have got out of the habit...I'm going to try again once I get back from hols. My friend has the lakeland bulk yog maker (electric) which seems to work every time I half wish I'd bought that in the first place as it's much less bulky than my easiyo and the yog seems nicerMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

I used some that was even older (Dec 2007) and it tasted ok.0 -
I've seen that you can make yogurt in a slow cooker, I'm trying it out now using UHT milk (I hope it works!). I know you can also use a flask.
I don't want to buy a yogurt maker as it seems a waste of money, but I like the idea of the sachets because you can get lots of different flavours. Would the sachets work using the slow cooker or the flask method?April Grocery Challenge: £80/£64.39

I wonder if someone can help me! I tried it in the slow cooker - first I heated the UHT milk, added some starter yogurt and milk powder, left in on low for 1 hour with a tea towel on top, and turned it off. Nothing happened! So I tried again - I added more starter yogurt and milk powder, and this time left it on low for 2 hours, then turned it off, left for about 5 hours, and refrigerated. It did curdle/separate a bit, but I whisked it and it was a bit better. But it was very very mild and didn't really taste like yogurt!
I'm now thinking of buying a flask (they have them for £3.99 in the local shop) but I'm concerned it might not work. Should I just bite the bullet and fork out for an EasiYo?
Thanks!April Grocery Challenge: £80/£64.39

It may have been too warm. Perhaps you should try it on the *keep warm* setting, rather than low.0

Unfortunately it doesn't have that setting. I think I'll need to buy a flask.April Grocery Challenge: £80/£64.39

Hi I've been given a starter Easiyo by a friend and we're hooked! Delicious and so simple to make.
Can anyone suggest the cheapest online suppliers for Easiyo? There's a Lakeland a little way off but I wondered if their prices can be beaten and I've noticed some Easiyo suppliers allow you to make your own bundle of flavours which avoids the "what do we do with the mango and cherry ones?" issues.
Thanks for any advice.0
