I think there is a question on this somewhere on this thread but I'm sorry - I couldn't find it.
I bought a sachet of apricot Easiyo powder last week and did it just as I usually do when I use a sachet, but when I looked 7 hours later it was still completely liquid so I chucked it. I seem to remember there was something about this in the instruction book, but have mislaid that. Can anyone suggest what I might have done differently - I always do the same thing - cold water up to halfway in pot, add powder, shake well, add water to the top, shake again, put on lid, pour boiling water to top of red baffle in white flask, whack in pot, leave for 7 hours. Might it be something to do with the cold weather ? I seem to remember reading something about v cold (or was it hot ?)weather ? Most grateful for any ideas !

I watched the Easiyo spot on QVC the other day and they said if it was very cold to put the boiling water to 1cm above the red baffle.

I did this the other day with a strawberry mix, and it was fine, I left it 8hours.

I leave mine overnight. Usually make it in the evening and it's set by the next morning, so about 12 hours or so.
  • If anyone is after cheaper mail order Easi Yo,I found some here:
http://www.wahlshop.co.uk/. Scroll to near the bottom of the page.
You can pick and mix 10 varieties for £18.49(plus postage). This has just gone up from £17.99.If you order 2x10 the postage appears to be free.So each packet for £1.849 can't be bad.I was looking for other companies I used in the past and found them instead, arrived quite quickly too.

I've made my own for years in heated cupboards or with yoghourt makers or a wide necked flask. Easiyo is ok but expensive and I hate lots of small pots! For pretty foolproof yummy yoghourt use a large pot yoghourt maker (that'll control the temperature so you don't have to guess), UHT milk and milk powder (makes it thicker) and half a pot of live yoghourt from the supermarket. If you like 'greek style' strain it, if you don't then eat it straight.

Make sure that your water is room temperature and not straight from the cold tap as its probably too cold straight from the tap at this time of year. I tend to take it straight from the tap but add a little hot water to take the chill off it. I also, as suggested by another poster, fill the maker to just over the baffle with boiling water in colder weather.

  • Hi all,

Where do you get cheap UHT milk from? I read back a few pages and some people are quoting 30-40p. Is this for a litre?

Do you used skimmed/semi skimmed or full fat milk?

    Thanks

Hi have been looking at getting an easiyo yougurt maker, but was wondering if you guys could help answer a few questions. Is it easier than buying a youghurt maker machine? do you have to use the sachet mixes or can you make your own? where can you get the mixes from apart from lakeland? as we don't have one near by meaning I would need to order online.
I really want to get one as I am looking at trying to get the kids to eat more healthily and this would be good as I would know what's in it.. Thanks kal25

We've only had ours for about 6 weeks but it's fantastic!!:D We've had yoghurt everyday, it's dead simple to make, as easy as making a cup of tea and it's got a fabulous creamy taste.

Meant to say GS is 3 and can't get enough of the natural yoghurt, he loves it!!

I've only used the sachets but I believe you can make it with milk and a yoghurt starter.

You can get the sachets from Julian Graves or mail order from a few places, Lakeland and QVC are just 2.

OH reckons it's the best gadget we've ever bought :j
