  • I picked up my second bulk order of beef today ... 999 packs not 1000 cos the computer said noooo.

The homeless shelter were very happy if not a little confused as to why i keep offloading my beef to them!

Damn - bought 15 instore tonight and the checkout operator put through 5 at 65p then 101 at 65p (instead of 10 at 65p) and was just about to charge me about £65 when she worked out her mistake! I wouldn't even have asked for my money back - the points would have been enough!! :D

  • Tesco are on to me ,well I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later. On Saturday I went shopping in Tesco(2 different ones) several times picking up beef, plus normal shopping etc. and every time I used my Tesco Credit Card (combined credit card/clubcard(Finest of course to max points)) it came up voice activation required and they had to phone through, whether it was £2 or £600.I phoned Card Services and they said there was no problem with my card and that it must be a Tesco Specific thing.I then tried my card in other shops and it was fine.Anyway I collected my bulk purchase of 2,280 beef to everyones amazement (two car trips) and off I went.

When I went in Sunday to collect my bulk purchase the store Manager came to greet me smiling and told me he was very pleased to keep supplying me because his sales this week had been up a few thou.He then informed me that he had 2400 beef for my Sun order and 2400 for my Mon order but that he had had a call from head office that morning to say they had cancelled all my future orders,8000 beef and 1000 chix. for later in the week.I said I had expected it to happen some time .

The beef I was collecting has a production code on it of L5221 Best Before Feb 2007. This basically means that it was manufactured on the 221st day of 2005 which is 11/08/05 by my maths. So basically they are getting very close to running out, this product must have been made and more or less shipped out straight away.My next orders of 4000 and 4000 I think would have caused a supply problem. When the promo started the Best Before was Nov 2006.All the other products on the shelf are mostly Dec 2006 now so it really shows the power of the internet and the bulk buying that has gone on.

The Stats. I'm not bragging but I suppose someone will ask.

Total Beef so far including bulk and small orders 8,418
Clubcard points showing so far 190,585
After all points are added in a few days there will be approx 500,000 worth £20,000 but the sad thing is I went to get some bread and milk tonight and I picked up 12 beef and I have over 1000 in my freezers. My partner says I'm having beef everyday until I'm sick of it.

I can not complain,I've done well, the Salvation Army had 600 packs on Sunday and they were very happy.

The till receipts only go up to 4 digits on prom points and 5 digits on points per visit and total points. It looks like I only have 90,585 but the web shows it correctly.

Finally I would like to say my thank yous to Birds Eye and the very nice Tesco Manager that has allowed me to bulk buy and get all these points.Ta.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Just read through the thread over there. I find it so ironic that they slate MSE so much, yet there seems to be quite a few of them happy to frequent this site. They are so elitist, they spend their time hunting around for ways to get cheaper flights on BA. :rotfl:

Oh, and for the record for all you FT'ers out there, I am a Londoner living in Suffolk.

:hello: RJB. I know you're reading this. ;)

Cheaper First class flights no less...

The implication that I'm a beef post stealer on the flyertalk thread has been bugging me all day  as it's something that annoys me on here.

So I now feel extremely smug :j:j :j

With a cunning bit of maths (the fact their sites time is 7 hours behind ours) I've worked out that I posted the beef offer on here about 30mins before they spotted it. So ner ner nee ner ner.

And I can now go to bed a happier bunny, knowing that I have been proven to not be a thief and all is well with the world of byl.;)

BTW I do already know I need to get a lifeicon11.gificon11.gificon11.gif

I think this is merely due to you using the card in the same retailer multiple times (maybe 6 times) during the day. If you have some spare time (and thick skin) have a look at the thread on flyertalk where I have read this sort of thing discussed.

Yes you could be right seeing as I did several shops in two different stores probably about 6 times before there was a problem to make the most of points/vouchers etc. Thanks for the info.

tightperson - congrats on the haul! Have fun spending the 20k!

I had this problem with my tesco finest credit card - when I purchased a bulk order of 600 (and I thought that was a lot!!). The card kept requiring voice authorisation even after the shop - and later found out that the CS desk should have told me I needed to ring them to OK the 600 beef purchase.

Tried to get rid of the 600 to sally army - was unsure at the time whether I'd actually be able to do the order so left it too late to ring around and they were closed. Managed to rope the family in to de-box and the dogs will be tucking into a mountain of beef for the next few months/years.

Am going to place another order (prolly for 1200 - you've spurred me on) - this time I'll make sure I can get rid to charity etc.

Inspired by tightperson - I thought it would be a bit of fun to add a "hall of fame" to the front page of this thread with a round-up of who has got how many beef in gravy. PM if you want to be added or removed.

My Tesco Extra has been out of stock of the Beef for the past week (now has a yellow "out of stock" label on the shelf)

So yes, I guess the greedy actions of a few do cause problems for the rest.

Good on ya for making the most of the offer though, just a shame others cant as a result :(

    Cheers,

Mossy, I've been clearing them out :D the £1.25 was part in the wrong place they have no more 66p ones left and filled the shelf with the £1.25 ones when I took them last. They moved tickets around to make the freezer look full :D

The 114gram one should be 66p, get hold of one and check it at the scanner by the clothes section (Wragby Road Store). Be careful - I might be back :rotfl:

    Mike

Aahhh so you're the crazy guy scanning beef by the mens clothing lol :rotfl:

That will explain the price if you've had all the little ones. I go to the top tescos (wragby road) as I don't like the bottom one much. I'm going in today (for a change lol) so might see if theres anything eatable that I can buy to get a few extra points. :D I've already got 700 odd points on my card since the beginning of this month so I'm happy only 70000 to go

I sit in bed at night working out how many points I can get if I buy so many offers each month :o its not normal I tell ya! :rotfl: I didn't get any extra point vouchers at the till yesterday..hope I get some today.

p.s Someone posted about the temporary cards extra 100 points, a while ago I forgot my card (heavens above) and I got a money off voucher or points voucher I can't remember which to encourage me to shop in store again and get a card, I did it a couple of times it was great. Might try the temp card thing today.
