Tesco Clubcard - Extra Points Goods

I bought some of these yesterday and off to buy some today, but cant help wondering are Tesco having the last laugh on us somehow? Or is everyone a winner?

Something strange happened today. I have been buying the beefs online but today stopped by my tesco (metro) close to work to top up. Found some beef boxes so I took 9 to the till but the extra points were not added! I went to CS and the lady told me they do not run that offer as the offers change from store to store! there was no sign on the beef's shelf so I could not say it was advertised anywhere in store... so i had to retur the beef!

Points offers may still appear at the till even when there is no sign with the actual product. I remember a couple of years ago buying wine which was signed with extra points in some branches but not others yet getting them. You have to buy one or one set first to check of course, but if the offer is not there then you can take them back immediately for a refund.

Be careful with the small corner shop type Tescos you now find in town centres; they seem to have different systems operating and even if they have the product offers can be different.

Yes, I think that must be the case (different offers in small tescos) beacuse I did buy the boxes and the extra points did not come up. That's when I went to CS and i ended up returning the beef and getting a refund...

I am having orders cancelled left right and flippin centre now. Two stores have now told me that I can only have 10 a day according to head office (I believe the first one as she really wanted the sale !)

am getting this clarified, but picked up 21 from the shelf just in case

Tesco Express (small corner shop style) only have very select special offers and promotions. Prices are also higher because you are paying for the conveniance of having a Tesco nearby rather than a big out-of-town site.

Tesco Metro (bigger than express, but smaller than supermarket) have more special offers, but there is no guarantee thay have the same offers which are available in supermarkets. Prices will also be slightly more expensive.

Tesco superstore / Extra (biggest store format) will have the highest number of offers, and the cheapest prices.

Picked up 3 packs of beef from my local Metro store - no sign suggesting that there is a points promotion on the item - however bonus 150 pts shown on my receipt. The other Metro store has the promotion displayed on top of its chiller cabinet.

Don't forget those who buy Weight Watchers - buy 3 for 100 bonus pts.

I ordered 15 packs for home delivery and specified no substitutes and to please only buy in multiples of 3.
The order turned up with 12 of the small beef and 2 large ones. I didn't notice this on the delivery note till after the driver had gone. In the past the drivers have always told me if there were subs but this one didn't so I assumed there weren't any.
Also a lot of my frozen lollies were defrosted.
I'm waiting for a reply to my email.
Still happy that I got some though

I just want to say to all you MSE's that have been donating the beef to charities.

Sparky, It has happened to me before (though not with the beef) that the driver didn't notified me of the substitutions and I only realised when he left. So I rang CS number on the top of the invoice and had the substitutions refunded! (and got to keep the items anyway). Might be worth a try.
