  • The Original Poster Deeds asks a reasonable question, and there is really no need for the torrent of abuse that she got.She appeared to me to be trying to save her mother money, not displaying ingratitude.
I agree with Ivanopinion i think some of you owe her an apology.for your nasty comments which have no place on this forum, according to the rules i read, when i recently joined.

I inappropriately thanked daveboy for his post. I meant to quote him. Appologies for my mistake. He and others like him do not deserve thanks.

For Christmas you got a £900 bracelet.

Some others got a late unwanted present a day later.

    They died.

Maybe it's just me who thinks you need a reality check.

While I would be one of the first to agree that the Tsunami was a terrible, terrible tragedy, what on earth has this got to do with deed's original query?

If this week you were to find you had been mistreated by a company you had paid money to in good faith, would shrug your shoulders and say; oh well, not to worry, much worse things happen to other people! (we all know what I am thinking about).

I think that it is you who needs a reality check.

its a good job ive been reading this site for a long long time or I would have been scared to death with all the nastiness thats been posted in this thread. This site is here to help people and encourage them not sit in judgment.
just wanted to let the OP know that the majority of people who post on here and nice and will do there best to come up with something constructive to say.
and most threads have a slightly more grown up feeling to them unlike this one which has produced the same level of maturity as a school play yard.

I agree with Ivan. I dont agree with the views of a certain poster who frequents these forums causing trouble. Do as I do and block his posts, they NOT worth it. Hopefully they get bored and go away.

He had a cheek to pity my children simply because I made a few spelling mistakes in a post. Sorry off topic.

    Hope you get sorted :)

The sale of the bracelet was a contract and part of that contract was surely the salesmans agreement to refund should the bracelet not be appropriate. Shouting is never helpful (no criticism intended). Time has dragged on but I would still try for a letter - sent recorded delivery - stating what happen, what was said in the original conversation at point of sale and mention the witnesses, point out that you consider the remarks re: a refund to be part of the contract. Very cool, very calm, very clinical makes it sound much more like you know you are right and that you know all the routes to take to get your refund.

lol, I did this too and DID NOT MEAN TO THANK DAVEBOY!

Thanks for all of your replies and to those of you that stuck up for me! I didn't mean to start up such a huge bunfight with my original post!
I was just looking for advice on how to get my mums money back!

She bought it safe in the knowledge she could get a full refund, she had no reason to think otherwise, everywhere else usually refunds unwanted christmas pressies and quite often extend their 'return within' time too. She had asked if he would do a full refund he said 'yes' she took it back, asked for a refund, he looked like he was processing it, she answered a call on her mobile, finished it quickly, thanked the whispery man and left the shop.
He's a lying creep, surely the fact my mum has witnesses that heard him quite clearly say she could be refunded, holds something?
Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right

it seems like it is a case of the OP's mums word against the shop, they have offered a credit note which is something that they didn't have to do so i feel that the shop have been reasonable.

Yes some shops do refund unwanted presents after christmas but a £10 CD is a bit different to a £900 piece of jewellery. How do the shop know that you didn't buy the bracelet, wear it for a night out then having served it's purpose return it to the shop saying you didn't like it?

Also would the shop be able to sell the item again as new? If not they may well be significantly out of pocket just because you didn't like the item. My only thought on what you could do is buy something like a posh watch or something like that with the credit note then recoup as much as you can by selling it on Ebay.

Personally, if I was spending that sort of money, I'd want any sort of guarantee like that in writing. Mind you, if I was spending that much on something, I'd make sure it was what they wanted before I buy.

    I agree but ...

£900 could buy us about 6 months supply of leaflets to let people know of our services.

I'd rather have the bracelet, thank you LOL!
The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.

Well, Klare, I've been reading these forums for a little while too and I'm still scared!!

Should I need any advice I'd be so careful because of the unwanted answers I might get.

Actually should I need any advice I don't think I would dare post here! I would ask a real friend who wouldn't tell me how to lead my life and wouldn't judge me!

Some of us don't come here for confrontation. Very sad when this site is supposed to help people!

Having said that, some of the posts I've read have been tremendously useful and some of the people who post are extremely helpful and supportive! :T

I suppose it's just a case of sorting the good apples from the bad ones! ;)
