PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. Shhhh! I hope that doesn't mean my meagre 1 acre smallholding will attract excess tax when I'm trying to make it a carbon neutral, self sufficient, permaculture haven?
Depends on where it is and how valuable the location is.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
Personally I find it astonishing that people who want to discuss Argos deals, mobile phones or 'gone but not forgotten freebies' have their own sub-boards but people wanting up to date information on the housing market are confined to one sticky (currently running at 59 pages, 1150 posts and viewed 57,350 times)!
That's because some people only like happy thoughts and don't like to think about us going into a r....r......r......r......r.. r...r....r....r....rrrrr....my keyboard won't type it. But we do seem to be going into a r...r...r.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
Read the sticky on the House Buying, Renting & Selling board.0 -

can i just re-iterate what debt free chick has said. There is NOT a ban on this sort of discussion at all my i remind you of the sticky thread at the top!!!
Again the reason this was done was to free up the boards that were getting clogged up with the same discussions over and over again.
I have raised the point of seperate boards with the team, and it is on their discussion list.0 -
WOW.
That really is ground-breaking advice.
those FTBs should be paying you.
OK so you don't want a sensible discussion, fine.
Up until now I was prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt. But as you can't seem to discuss the counter arguements raised in response to your posts then I'll leave it.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -

Now can we stop this crap by locking this thread please.
If anyone wants to continue this discussion then housepricecrash.co.uk seems the right place to do it.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -

Yeah. It's only the biggest purchase most people are likely to make, ever. Heaven forbid it should be discussed on a moneysaving site, all multi-decade decisions should be made blind and uninformed. Good grief...
And sending people over to the, err, batshi^Wvigorous HPC community seems unhelpful.

It is THE single most important area of discussion at the moment. To keep it all in one thread is insane.
It's ok to have threads about saving a tenner on an ipod or other such tat you don't 'really' need. But saving thousands on a house price purchase? Apparently not that important.0 -
Someone wanting tips on how to save a thousands on a house purchase wouldn't have their thread deleted from here as a HPC thread until people come along and turn it into one with their neverending discussion/arguments!
The problem is that all the back and forth discussion, people saying the same things over and over again DOES clog up the boards and someone posting for genuine advice DOES get lost and pushed off the first page of threads very quickly.
Since there are whole forums dedicated to this ONE issue, can you not see how letting discussion of it grow unfettered on this one board of one forum would become completely unmanageable?
But having said that I do think a sub board for HPCers would be good, then we can just let them get on with it, rather than allow the threads on this main part of the house board. Then this board will be left open for more specific queries and people genuinely in need of help rather than just wanting a meandering long winded discussion that can have no resolution.
BUT the peeps at MSE Towers do have rather a lot on their plate I'm sure, and as divadee said, its on the list to discuss.
SO GET OFF THEIR CASE!!0
