Just thought I would post an update or lack of one:confused: . Still trying to sell the house and thought we had sold it this week. We had cash buyers come round last weekend and put in a very low offer which was insulting and obviously declined. Then wednesday they upped it but it was still a bit short of what we wanted so turned it down again, they are not going to up it again and have gone off to find something else, I have to say I'm not bothered they seemed the type that would have pulled out at the slightest thing anyhow. The latest is that there is a young couple that viewed the house 3 weeks ago and loved it and put in an asking price offer, we sold it a couple of days later as they couldn't proceed and even though they upped their offer by 2K over our asking price we still turned it down as they couldn't proceed and didn't have a buyer for theirs. As soon our sale fell through our EA let them know and they have been working hard to get a sale to purchase ours.

Well the latest is they have had an offer from a lady who has a house to sell and who has just been given a good offer from a FTB. This lady has had to sleep on the offer overnight but if she says 'yes' then the chain is back on. I'm waiting for the phone to ring to let us know one way or another.........

The good thing is the whole chain is being looked after by our EA, and all puchasers have seen their mortgage advisor who has confirmed their finances (not sure how thorough they are though) the bad thing is there could be 3 links below us and a lot could go wrong. Oh and one more thing the house we loved and wanted to buy was sold last week so we need to find something else when we sell:mad:

Other than that if we don't sell the house this weekend I am going to go on a major slurge and maybe buy a new car and/or new tv........I think.........

Yey!!! sold our house.......again...for asking price too!!! Quite a long chain though so a lot could go wrong and I'm not going to get too excited. The house we loved and originally put an offer in for we have definately lost so we need to keep on looking. If we can't find/agree on anything we'll move into a married quarter and take our time finding something.

Debtwise I need some time to work out figures and I'm not off til Friday so will have a good old budget/payment day and work out our new debt total, if there is any?!

Well we sold our house on 4th March and found somewhere else 2 weeks later that I didn't believe we would ever be able to get. Luckily after a bit of negotiating we got it for what we were willing to pay and then just waited for the chain (of 5) to progress and it did so quite quickly and exactly 9 weeks after we accepted our buyers offer we moved into our new home this weekend just gone. I can't believe we're here and I can't believe how much money we are spending:o curtains, water softener re-installed, boiler repairs (I know already and it's oil too:mad: ), wardrobes, loft boards, lights and a garage door to be installed, the list could go on but it won't.

This house would not have been possible without the debt clearing OH and I did over the last 2.5 years and without this forum. I have been logging on though not posting over the last 2 months. We haven't yet cleared anymore debt but hope to at the end of the month as we are getting a refund of some legal fees, they came to nearly £15,000, stamp duty was most of it! Anyhow I am keeping a tight reign on the spending and writing down every payment we are making and anything that is not essential can wait.

On the downside the amazing holiday we booked we decided to cancel and are using that money for things to get done in the house, we have booked a week in France instead and I know we and the kids will enjoy it just as much. We have lost our deposit - nearly £700 but to be honest I would rather lose that than have a holiday paid for with another debt, it really wouldn't be worth it. We are also sending our DS3 to the excellent local primary here rather than put him in private school again to save money. We have a bigger mortgage and so the savings made there means we are actually better off.

So that's it for now but hopefully....soon.... I will be able to say we're debtfree!!!!
