Well done both of you!!! It's amazing when you threaten changing EA's how all of a sudden you have a rush of viewings (funny that!!)

Have a fab holiday - where are you going by the way? (if you don't think that too nosey a question). At least now when you go into your new home you will have for MSE heads on and you will hopefully buy things with this in mind and remember where you have come from and how hard you have worked to get to being debt free. When we moved house, I go into the 'spending mode' and spent as if I had a bottomless pit - alas I didn't, and even though I didn't get into serious difficulties, I would most certainly do things different this time round if I were moving now.
So good luck with the move, have a great holiday and enjoy your new found freedom. :beer:When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
PS - Like the idea of the white board by the way - I have one in my kitchen, but have never used it ...... now know what to do with it - excellent idea :TWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Well the chain lasted 5 days!!!!!
The buyers right at the bottom pulled out so things have come tumbling down. We quickly cancelled our mortgage valuation and survey (which we paid out £500 for) so we didn't lose the money. So things are at stalemate, everyone in the chain wants to move forward so the EA is working hard to get things going again. We have 2 other people who really want to buy this house but they aren't in a position to move forward at the moment. We have asked the sellers of the house we want to buy if we can have 2 weeks to try and salvage this situation. We are waiting for their response. If this is all a no-goer, then we'll move into a married quarter after we sell this (eventually) and buy something when we are chainfree.
House buying/selling is THE most stressful thing I have ever done. I hate it:mad:  :mad:Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -

Sugar wouldn't you know that this would happen. BUT at least you know you will be debt free soon, which will put you in so much better position. I have followed your diary on and off for all the time you have been on here. And I have been really impressed by how determined you are.
best of luck with the house selling
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Awww that's terrible! Hope the EA can sort something out. Thanks for your comments, I have to say at the moment I am wallowing in a LOT of self-pity right now and need to snap out of it. I am off to work very soon and that will probably be good as I will have a distraction for the next 10 hours. We are now in daily contact with our EA (harrassing them!), we have 2 offers of asking price but the chain behind them has clogged - ie no-one yet at the bottom! Our best bet comes from a couple who want to buy this. They have a buyer for theirs but she only put her house on the market on Tuesday. It is with our EA and they have 'assured' us they will be able to get a buyer quickly for her. The sellers of the house we want to buy want to be kept informed and are sort of holding on for us though if a cash or chain free buyer came along they would certainly go with them instead I'm sure.
So it's a white knuckle ride and we just need to keep the faith and hold on tight!!!!Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -
Hi all no nearer to selling our house unfortunately, we had viewers this morning but haven't sold their house yet (although have a second viewing tomorrow). What annoyed us was that the viewers told us that they had tried 3 times to arrange a viewing and our EA apparantly was totally disinterested in organising one for them!! Enough is enough and we are going to change EA on Monday.
Debt wise all is pretty much the same, am resisting the urge to splurge and I did say to OH about doing some shopping this weekend but when it came down to it I couldn't face spending money on stuff we didn't need and couldn't afford. That's a real improvement although we were a bit naughty on Wednesday and went bowling with the kids (£15.50) followed by Pizza Hut (£26.84). £40 for an afternoon out, not very mse but good fun and a rare time out from all the house business and debt clearing.Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -
Well still waiting for the house to sell, I have to admit that I'm more concerned about that than debt-busting right now. We have had 2 more viewings, the last one at 10am today so just waiting for their response. The good thing is that the house is so spotless I can't remember having the house clean for such a long time. We were going to change EA but have decided against it, we negoiated an excellent deal with our current EA on fees when we signed up with them and the EA we were going to change to wanted to charge about £800 more and sign up with them for 20 weeks. We have decided to stay put as that all seems a bit much and better the devil you know ....
I had to transfer £1000 out of our savings last week to pay for our survey (£500) and a deposit with the solicitors (£250).However when everything broke down last week the survey was cancelled so we should get that £500 back, I guess I need to phone the bank to arrange that. Better it earns interest for us not them!Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0
