  • I left a very joyful neg this evening for a buyer who negged me because she hadn't had her item 5 days after the auction ended. Aaaah bliss seeing that little red circle light up.
  • if she paid quickly, what reason have you got to neg her - retaliatory negs are so childish and i think it shows up very badly on the seller. Immature. Did you post as quickly as she paid?

positive feedback with negative comment anyone?

That's one thing I don't anticipate doing. Savvy users know to actually read the feedback, we see it here all the time that naive users or new users just look at the percentage. Therefore..and I do so hate showing my criminal mind..it would be possible for a really bad buyer to end up with a huge feedback score at 100% and start to sell. I'm sure enough buyers would just see 100% positive and buy regardless.

So a rogue buyer could turn into a scamming seller in a matter of days.

    Got to agree with BigBouncyBall....

In the absense of any further details from yourself, I would say that assuming the buyer paid immediately with paypal then it is not unreasonable for you to post within 24 hours so unless it was 2nd class (and clearly stated as so on the auction) then 1st class should be there within 2 days = 3 days total....

Now it may well be that there is a reason it took 5 days.....

If not then leaving a retaliatory neg is wrong...

Given that the Paypal Seller protection dictates that an item must be sent within 7 days, receiving a neg after 5 days from purchase is unnecessarily harsh on the seller, particularly if there has been no prior communication from the buyer, or no indication that it was an urgent purchase.

I'd quite happily return the neg to the buyer for lack of communication, unreasonable behavior and inappropriate use of feedback.

Feedback is supposed to be a true reflection of the transaction from both parties, so how can the seller justifiably say that this was a positive experience for them?

  • This isn't going to be good. Far too many stupid buyers out there nowadays.
Ebay & Paypal totally are in favour of the buyers instead of sellers.
Paypal generally always awards disputes in favour of the buyer, even if they are completley in the wrong.

    Sigh.

    Need a new ebay :(

I have sent this to all my 'friends' on myspace ... facebook ... ebay listings ... and as a sig in a couple of other forums I go on.

If we can send this link to everyone we know, we 'could' make a difference. I have to say that I never knew this new ruling until I read this thread just now, so more need to be aware.

    Get spamming your mates ;)

Thanks to both yourself and big bouncyball for reminding me why I never post on these forums anymore. Read my post again; did I anywhere state that she actually paid for the item?

I too leave would have left a return neg for the customer - in my eyes a buyer who negs BEFORE even contacting you to try and sort out a problem is a bad buyer and I, as a seller, should alert other selers to this. If a customer contacted me first and I did not resolve their issue or did not reply etc then of course they can neg me and I should not retaliate, but 1st class post can and often does take longer than a couple of days and ALL buyers should at contact the seller and at least make them aware of the problem before issuing a neg. But I dont have to worry about this anymore cos I shut my ebay shop last week :D
