Will sellers still have access to Buyer Requirements to manage their buyers?
Yes. The Buyer requirements tool enables sellers to prevent or limit the buyers from bidding or buying their items if certain criteria have not been met. The criteria are:- buyer is registered in a country to which the seller doesn't deliver
- buyer has negative FB score
- buyer has a recent Unpaid item strike
- buyer does not have a PayPal account

Maybe they will be a bad seller on the same account...?!
I guess that page will be updated in due course. Seems a bit pointless now.
Incidentally, I have just set my buyer requirements to block anybody with 2 unpaid item strikes in the last 30 days. There is no reporting on it, so I will never know what effect it has, but it's a small first line of defence.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I think that the Ebay feedback system, should be scrapped entirely & be replaced by a sort of 'questions & answers' form that gives a grading. The 'q&a' eminating from Ebay (similar to the existing feedback on p&p chgs/speed/communication). As it currently stands and after these proposed changes, it is still going to be open to abuse, as previous corresponents have stated. Additionally, buyers will be able to leave negative feedbacks for frivolous matters; e.g. "Item Stated Blue-I received pale blue"!! "Item stated NEW- I found a 0.5mm mark on it" !!. "Listing stated 1-3 days for posting, I received on 4th day"!! Sellers feedbacks are going to tumble from the 90-100% bracket to half that, as there are too many 'nit pickers' out there!! Ebay should also do more on fraud. Last year I sold a mobile phone, which was posted first class to buyer. The buyer claimed he never received it. Refunded through Paypal and I lodged claim with RM (took 3 months to settle). The buyer then left me negative feedback with the comment "colour not as expected", thus indicating that he had received it. I reported to Fraud @ Ebay/Paypal - neither wanted to know. I was told to go to the local police station and report it!! The police state it is a matter for Ebay/Paypal to sort out and report as necessary, as they hold all the information.!!! So, Ebay-back to the drawing board-or back to basics is my best solutions - anyway the rules/term/conditions are far too weighty!!0

...and adding that I closed my account with the comment -
"As a small volume Seller I am appalled at the changes to Feedback and charges that create a two tier charging and PayPal protection system, therefore I am closing my account in protest."
We'll see if they deign to reply to THAT one!
Unfortunately you have done exactly what ebay wanted. Their policy statements over the past year or so have been geared more and more towards losing the smaller seller and concentrating on business sellers. They appear to actively want us to leave and go elsewhere and leave the higher volume sellers with them.
Just look at the other changes, different rates of FVFs between small sellers and larger business sellers and those with power seller status. It couldn't be clearer that we smaller sellers are just not wanted.
I was reading the ebay forums and there are some huge players over there, I consider my fees high enough but maybe my £100 +fees or so a month is barely recordable compared to some who pay thousands.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. So buyers can just leave negative feedback for a "laugh" as no retaliatory negs are possible. At least it will do away with sellers not leaving feedback until the buyer has left feedback they like.
I personally think Ebay should start collecting income tax on behalf of sellers, far too many people on Ebay are buying up bargains and selling them on ebay, whilst claiming benefits etc. There's no reason people should have anything against it, other than the fact they don't want to pay taxes.
I personally think the feedback thing is a great idea as it will means buyers that have a genuine problem with a seller can leave a negative feedback without fear of a retaliatory neg - so any problems with sellers become known more quickly. There seems to be loads of sellers who automatically neg the buyer back and try get the feedback mutually withdrawn (w@nkers).0 -

And how do you protect the sellers from rogue buyers0 -

Frankly I pity people who sell clothes.it is one thing I have great difficulty in selling. All those wrong sizes where people buy the size they would like to be and not the size they actually are, even when they get a full refund they can still leave a whinging negative. Buy a dress wear it for a wedding and ask for a full refund on the basis you didn't get noticed enough..why not just neg the seller out of spite when they refuse.
These are real negs I've seen and I've seen the negs back from the sellers and have blocked the bidders from bidding on my items as a result.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I find it quite ironic that some people on a website about consumer revenge get all upset about... ah no, wait, I see... and they say humans are fundamentally selfish...
Sorry but personally (as a buyer aka the selfish consumer) I think it's quite a good idea, I know that a few times I haven't left neutral or negative feedback for fear of revenge.
Ebay has changed for the worst, I remember around 5-6 years ago when I first started buying on ebay sellers would leave feedback on despatch/clearance of payment. Nowadays I leave feedback first and sometimes wait a few weeks to get sellers feedback. Some of the excuses I've read in various places for this are the very same reason why ebay has changed the system - "I don't give feedback first in case the buyer gives me negative or neutral".
Ebay was build on trust, this was facilitated by the feedback system, but trust is gone and feedback is broken and sadly I suspect trust was the first to go.
One thing I do agree on with some sellers is that ebay's days could be numbered, I only use it now for 2nd hand items I can't get elsewhere. New stuff gets bought elsewhere, most often amazon - prices aren't that different, I know more or less when something will be delivered and when I need to get something sent to a different address (e.g. work) I don't get the unverified address problems (another symptom of lack of trust)."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -

Yes but sellers are consumers as well as they are the ones that pay Ebay's fees.mustrum_ridcully wrote: »

What sort of revenge are you in fear of, a neg to a buyer means nothing, if it proves too much of a worry you can close your account and open a nice new shiny one.mustrum_ridcully wrote: »Ebay was build on trust, this was facilitated by the feedback system, but trust is gone and feedback is broken and sadly I suspect trust was the first to go.
Trust is a two way thing and so was the feedback system so that both buyers and sellers could comment on how well that transaction went, sellers will no longer have that right and buyers can do what they like, it's hardly a way of restoring trust.0
