One of the main reasons I use this site, is to gain knowledge and save money. Through Mike Paterson's imput regarding this particular company I chose to join them. During the changeover, it was neccessary to phone the company at £1 per min and yes, there was a slowish intruduction at my expense. I left a message and they returned to call within a short time and it lasted more than 10 mins. Later they called back to see how everything was going.
A week or so later, I experienced the BT page and could get no further. I phoned the company and left a message. Within a short time, they returned the call and explained what was happening and what to do.
The day the successful London bid for the olympics was announced, "the company" announced that for a limited period 2mb would be allocated to users. I emailed them asking if they would provide me with that speed. The reply was that it was for new subscribers only, but they will soon be offering existing users "something".
So, ref my experience of "the company". They have provided me with all they said and they have responded to all my requests for help. I can ask for nothing more.
On the subject of a post being withdrawn. I accept there are rules to this and every site and in a perfect world rules would not be broken, but hey, we don't live in a perfect world and once in a while things do happen. islandmanThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. I have 'lurked' on this site since early last year, and I find the reasoning behind the deletion of Mike's post unfair. To describe his E7 posts as spam is incorrect. The vast majority of responders appear to appreciate the support that Mike has offered and as he stated earlier, he has now refrained from including links in his posts.
This is a fantastic site which I feel is let down occasionally by 'titled' members wielding unnecessary power (with a small p).
I don't know Mike, and I have not yet signed to a BB isp so I consider myself pretty impartial.
Enough said!0 -

Rules are broken on this site all the time. When the abuse team are aware or made aware by people reporting rule breaking. It is their job to put things right and make sure the rules are followed. I myself am aware of at least another five other threads that the same refferal link was posted on. This is not only breaking the rules by advertising a refferal post. It is also breaking the rules by spamming the boards with the same info that would benefit the poster. This is a fantastic site which I feel is let down occasionally by 'titled' members wielding unnecessary power (with a small p)
This site is fantastic IMO, because we are not flooded by advertising or spam when we come here for advice and help on ways to save money. This is not a small part due to the team keeping on top of the rules and making sure they are followed. This is not them wielding unnecessary power. This is them doing their job, and doing it well from what I see.
It is very easy to not have your post deleted/altered by the team. Don't break the rules! How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I`m completely imparial, still being on dial-up with https://www.fast4.net
If someone starts a (another) thread about E7even I can`t see the harm in Mike Paterson pointing them in the direction of his referrers post.
He was the first to bring E7 attention to these boards and has always tried to help anyone interested in E7.
OK,I know you`re going to say he has a vested interest but it is entirely the choice of anyone signing up whether they use his code or not.
The man has helped a lot of people and pointed them into the right direction for cheap, maybe the cheapest broadband in the UK.
A true moneysaver.
Sometimes the boardguides let the job get the better of them.
If they were`nt happy with the thread they could have merged it with the other E7even thread as they are so found of doing with other posts.0 -

You may not see the harm in this, but it is against the rules. What's the point of having rules if people are allowed to break them?
If people were allowed to post their refferal links where they want on this site, believe me it wont take too long before it degenerates into a free for all advertising board. Even Martin who owns and pays for the site has not placed adverts all over the place. Why should it be OK for people to join this site for free, then be allowed to flood us all with their own refferal links? Martin has provided a refferal board for these type of links to be posted on. He didn't have to do this. In providing this board, the only stipulation is that this board is the only place on this site that these links can be posted, and you can't post all over the rest of the site bringing attention to threads in this board. These are very simple rules that help to make this as popular and impartial as it is.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hmmm.
Jobsworth springs to mind.
Mike has my support for the helpful information that he has given to me and deserves every penny of his referral fortune?-- Ahem, fees!
Surely in certain circumstances exceptions to EVERY rule should be permitted. It's called using 'Fair Judgement'!

If you have a financial interest in a company, then you are "advertising", not "helping". Hence the rules on referrers links.
Heard of the word "infomercial"? A commercial dressed up as information. There is a grey area, which is useful information which the user providing the information can benefit from. We all know adverts on the tele, which are entertaining and provide useful information. Unfortunately the adverts only tell you about their product, not the positive points about everyone else's products. I will give an example, there is another company which provides £10 per month internet - https://www.euro1net.com/cgi-bin/home.cgi - this is not a referral link, just a link to the home page of euro1net. So what's the difference between the two providers? Which is more reliable? Which will be here in 12 months time after you have paid up for 2 years?
I went through all this, and went for plusnet for a number of reasons. Just take care when trusting people to give you all the information - even on this site.
The rules on referral links stop conflicts of interest.0
