No it won't be useless. It just won't receive Five, Fiver, Five USA, Sky Three and Setanta Sports News. Also the versions of BBC One and ITV you get may eventually change to the wrong region and BBC Two will change to BBC Two England (if you are in Scotland or Wales or Northern Ireland) rather than your local regionalised versions on channels 101, 102 and 103.
But in any case as a Pay Once Watch Forever customer you are entitled to a new viewing card for five years after install free of charge if Sky replace them. You just need to send enough emails to jeremy.darroch@bskyb.com with cc to crsupport@bskyb.com insisting on your right to receive one. I would probably not worry too much until such as Sky finally deactivate the old viewing cards in the Autumn as they may not take your complaint seriously or act on it urgently before that happens.0 -
According to this site http://www.skyviewinghelp.com/ they will automatically send you a new viewing card.
"Who will receive a new Sky viewing card?
We'll be replacing all Pay TV providers' viewing cards. Plus, Pay Once Watch Forever and Digital SwitchOver (DSO) Help Scheme customers will also be automatically mailed cards.
But in practice it won't actually happen for Sky Pay Once Watch Forever customers who are not paying Sky subscribers unless you make a complaint to jeremy.darroch@bskyb.com with cc to crsupport@bskyb.com as Pay Once Watch Forever customers who did not take a paying subscription with Sky were just coded in the Sky database as cancelled monthly subscription customers who owe Sky no money and Sky now has no way at all to know that these are Sky Pay Once Watch Forever customers who are automatically entitled to a free replacement viewing card within five years of install.:mad:0 -
I'm going to give it another week for my card to arrive, then i'll start contacting Sky !!
Anyone had any problems with the new card (if your a FreesatFromSky customer) ?0 -

Yes. My mother is still waiting for her replacement Sky Pay Once Watch Forever viewing card to arrive. This despite the promises of Mr Jeremy Darroch's correspondence drones that one would be sent to her automatically.:mad:0 -
I'm going to give Sky another week or so before i get onto them...yet again .
If they dont send one out automatically, i might even get in touch with the Watchdog/ Rogue Traders programme on the BBC0 -
i lost sky about 4 months ago. Never contact them but received my new card about 3 weeks ago, now everything is in order!0

here's my update.
I emailed all the usual Sky customer service contacts back at the start of September pointing out that as a Pay Once Watch Forever customer I was entitled to a free replacement viewing card.
A couple of days later I got a phone call from Sky.They assured me that I would get a free card and they were aware that their website was wrongly flagging up the need to pay £20 when POWF customers entered their viewing card number.
I waited.
Two weeks ago I started to get the "replacement card is on its way" message when I turned the TV on.
The next day my new card arrived!
I replaced the old card and everything works fine.
I know what everyone's thinking, but NO they haven't charged my credit card £20 (statement arrived a few days ago)....I'll check next month's statement as well, but at the moment Sky seem to have got this one right......Well done...You just need to be lucky enough to get your message to the correct customer service people.
Best of luck to everyone.0 -
