Monday was bread (£1.20 local baker) fruit and veg (£4.93 local +/or British bought in market); coffee and Eat Natural bar on the train journey home (£2.50) on the train home. I could have avoided the train cost - I had a bottle of squash and a tub of peanuts/figs/breadsticks with me - it was unnecessary....:oDebt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -

I have just got my pay slip through the post - pitifully small. I have a day off tomorrow to do all the admin I need to do for the week - including phoning National Debt Line for support over the Post Office Default Notice etc.
I am thinking that this spending diary method has been good for highlighting my erroneous spending habits - but from 1 August I may experiment with a different technique - and draw out the cash each week, and do a subtracting spending record - so I can see it going out, and cannot go beyond my limit for the week. I will sleep on this idea and come back to it tomorrow.
I actually had a fairly normal work day today - started at 9am and finished at 5.30pm - that doesn't happen very often. I have a whole day off tomorrow which I am really looking forward to.Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -

Paid the rent and the council tax and have £19 left in the bank - £400 available on overdraft - this is because my son hasn't paid me any rent......Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
Kick son up bottom, you need the money!0

Hi Cleosmum - he's in USA for another 2 weeks somehow having a great time on no money - he had $10 left to last him 3 weeks when I last had communication with him! When he gets back he has a Sainsbury's Saturday job and has dropped out of college - I have no idea how to get any money out of him - he is up to his neck in debt too but hasn't done anything about it - I reckon we'll both be going bankrupt together. I am really scared of actually losing my place to live.Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0

Hi bountiful, I'm sorry that you're worried about losing your flat. Your son must be a resourceful young man if he has survived and enjoyed his US trip - he simply has to get a job when he gets back. Surely there is a lot of work in the summer in Cornwall?
I hope you're managing to enjoy the summer despite the hard work and money worries.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

I have to say I've kind of lost my sense of joy at the moment..... it ain't all bad by any means - but I've got a mixture of 'empty-nest syndrome'/debt anxiety/perpetual busy-ness - and have lost myself a bit.Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
I'm sorry to hear that bountiful. I'm sure it will come back again - just hope it's not too long, and not too demoralising meanwhile. Debt anxiety is a real killer, isn't it? I feel it's poisoned my life these last couple of years.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Yeah, it make's one feel so disempowered, doesn't it? All the little things you have to say 'no' to - and the time it takes up just dealing with it all..... sigh...Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0
