lol Tia :rotfl: , oh that made me chuckle:D

I have been good and done the kitchen, I have even cleaned the oven. Unfortunatley the soda crystal I used have attacked the skin on my ring finger on my right hand. Its ate into it so is smarting a bit, not sure what (if anything) to put on it:o . See should have been a mucky mare and just left it till next week:rolleyes: .

Luckily I do have a pair of rubber gloves although when DD had her cast on I cut the finger out of the left hand one so she could paint and not get her cast wet. So at least I can get on with other wet jobs as its stings even worse when it gets wet.

As for potty training, I would leave it till the warmer weather and he can run around in shorts etc. Firstly your outside more often and secondly drying all the washing potty training creates is easier. I think nurseries dont like nappies 'cos its more work for them. If they dont like it ask should you send him in pants with several changes of clothes. Am sure mopping up all the accidents would take longer than changing a nappy.

Well I went into the garage to get some stuff from the drier to hang out, it was sunny outside when I went in, just opened the conservatory doors etc, came back out windy, pitch black and lashing down with snow. !!!!!!! Went back into the garage and put it back in the drier. Came back through after wiping down the FF and it's sunny again......why can't it just do one thing!!! In my half hour got lots of 'spare' toiletries boxed up, cleared a space for them in the bottom of my wardrobe, cleaned the bathroom, sorted another laundry load and set that away. Mattress now collected.

Tia, with little ones toilet issues, it's never a 'one solution fits all' thing as I am sure you will know. We did the telling off for not going, didn't work, next was onto the 'positive reinforcements' which mean't ignoring the bad times (even if I wanted to scream at him) making a sticker chart for them with a 'goal' at the end which was a picture of something he wanted in Argos, IIRC it was a Thomas set with DS1. Picture of our toilet at the top of the chart with a tick next to it. Every sticker for going mean't one step closer to it. Consistency with this is the key, if I even so much as forgot once to put the sticker on, he'd go back over for days. Good thing about it is you can make it to suit your budget and what the child likes, you don't need to buy stickers, just a tick in a box (my littlest liked doing his ticks with a special green pen [strike](I found in the drawer)[/strike] I got him specially for it, doesn't have to be a big prize and if it'll take a while to afford it you just put lots of boxes. www.chartjungle.com has some great charts for kids inc colouring in ones. What I will say is regardless my 2 both still have accidents, sometimes it'll just click when they are ready. You might find that when he starts playschool, send him in pants with spares and he may suprise you by just following the other children. His nursery can't usually refuse to take him if you take it further, like Pigpen said it's discrimination, but sometimes there isn't the staff levels to deal with a lot of children who are not trained, which is when there is the problem of children being left wet etc and gives them reasons to refuse children who aren't toilet trained. Shells point is also a good one, it's LOTS easier to deal with these things in summer time, but sometimes it just doesn't fit in with when a child needs it. Every child is so different, my sister had it easy with my neice who just wanted to use the toilet (wouldn't use a potty) as soon as she could walk almost and was toilet trained by 16 months inc dry at night, where as my nephew is 5 now, still has accidents and was almost 4 before he was toilet trained properly.

Pigpen, while I agree with some of your points with the signatures issue, some do take the 'pee' so I think it had to be decided what to do about it. I was looking through a thread last week and one persons signature took up 1/3 of the blinkin page. Most are sensible, some just are silly.
One day I might be more organised...........

A question for Pigpen and Lil-me and others with late toilet training.

DS2 will be 3 in April and showing no signs of toilet training. We have tried but if he has done anything, it's just been coincidence. The playgroup he is going to is quite funny about nappies, so I feel I ought to get him toilet trained. He has stopped telling us he has a dirty bum. And still shows no sign that he even knows he is doing a pee. Is it worth taking him up every hour to sit on the loo or should I just leave it till he is ready?

I have a good book by Gina Ford called 'Potty Training in One Week' i found it really useful. I can send it to you if you want.

We don't know if the lack of sensation when peeing is linked to the CP or not. If he is nakey and does a pee, he just looks down and goes 'oh' as in 'oh, my feet are wet, how did that happen'.

Don't get me wrong he is interested in what the toilet is, but I just don't think he is anywhere near ready. He doesn't have very good communication either, he generally just takes your hand and throws you at what he wants.

If I remember correct the playgroup will take them but call you to come change the nappy if needed. may be different as he will be going with a medical referral?

Ah, no, I'm doing it, I'm going to wait till he is ready which is not now.

Lunch is on, pasta, anyone want :coffee: ??

Tia - I kept trying with my DS and he didn't want to know. Eventually I gave up and the same day he used the potty! I think he was just ready. Saying that, he had his first accident in four years on Monday. I think they just like to test us. The other thing that helped was putting a target in the toilet so he had to hit it with his wee (maybe your OH needs that, lol!). You can buy special targets but we just used a bit of screwed up toilet roll.

My butter is too hard to make the icing yet. I'm bored waiting for it to soften. Think i'll start singing again.....a wimberway a wimberway a wimberway a wimberway in the jungle the quiet jungle, de doo de dum, the lion sleeps to night ooooohhhhhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhho ohhhhhhhhhh [goes off singing in a high squeaky voice].....

The book i have says the main focus is waiting til they are ready, they give you a list of 7 signs that would indicate they are ready for potty training, if they dont have all the signs then they wont be ready yet. It also agrees with lil_me and suggests a sticker chart.
