    1. Does your meter still get read by BG or do they only use customer supplied readings?
They'll still send round the meter readers as before (every three months), but if they don't get a read - just put one in the website.

    2. If so how often should you supply readings and when?
As often as you like, but definately if you get an estimated bill. The more accurate reads they get the better any other estimates will be, for example at price changes.

    3. Do they email you asking for a meter reading?
Can't say for certain, but as they are sending round the MRs, and if that doesn't work the estimated bill suggests you check the estimate against reality.

No different to any other tariff in this sense, just rewards you for looking after your account.
  • Click 4 has now been withdrawn, replaced by Click 5, which has elec price increase of 100% for first 125 units. Shame I missed the boat with that one! EON is now the cheapest, on my assesment through uswitch.com

I just changed to click 4 today (7:30 am) and found now only click 5 is online. I called the online help center and they told me the click 4 price has gone up by 18% anyway not sure yet as I have not had the confirmation email but was told by online support that I can cancel if I want to when I get it.

Click Energy 4 has removed from the market and prices have been put up - with immediate effect – gas prices are to increase by 17.4% and elec by 20.6%.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

For Sweb Region Electric Tier 1 prices are 2.963p per unit cheaper with Click 4 Energy.

Tier 2 is 1.001p per unit cheaper with Click 5 Energy.

Save people searching heres the Click Energy 4 and 5 links

On 27 January I changed from standard to click 4 following the large increase in standard prices. Today I have just changed from click 4 to click 5 following the large increases in click 4 prices. It appears that every time BG increase their prices you have to apply for the latest click energy or get stuck with paying a higher price on the previous one. This is annoying and they are obviously playing on peoples inertia hoping they will not change and end up paying a higher price than they need to. Why can't they just have click energy and change everybody onto the latest prices without having to apply? Fortunately the change online was fairly quick and easy for existing customers. Also, as I did the change through Quidco I got £40 validated in my Quidco account for the first switch and waiting to see if I get another £40 for the 2nd switch :rotfl: .

The other concern is how efficiently BG will deal with 2 changes within 2 weeks. Only time will tell.
    Regards
    erb :)
  • I have just changed from scottish power to BG click 4 on monday through quidco they called on thursday and contract will start 28th february when I asked if their were going to be any changes they said they did'nt know.
As the prices have changed yesterday does that mean I have to apply again for click 5 I have not received my welcome pack yet.

A couple of days ago i applied to change to click 4 from edf (online v3) due to the price increases, looks like i jumped too soon.
The price increase makes bg look very expensive now.
Is there anything stopping me letting the change go through then immediately changing back to edf for their online v5. How quick can i change back and will bg want their quidco £60 back.

A warning for anyone on Economy 7 electric heating who switched to British Gas click energy 4 - the increase is a lot more than 20.6% for night-time units - I calculate that if I were to stay with them (on click energy 5) my increase over the previous prices would be 44.8%
  • I applied for this over a week ago. Currently get gas from BG. I spoke to them this morning and they said I would defo be set up on Click energy 4. However, I then read in paper that they scrapped click energy 4 yesterday. I rang BG again and spoke to a rude customer services rep who said that click energy 4 has changed to click energy 5 and prices up by 18%. First time I've attempted to switch and finding whole thing a minefield!

There is a note on moneysupermarket.com warning people not to apply for click energy 4 from now on even if it appears as your cheapest option on comparison sites.
