I found some bacon bits in the freezer that I'd forgotten about, now I have some ideas what to do with them :D

I've got the makings of batter so we can have bacony toad in the hole, and then I should try out the bacon&potato&onion hotpot that I've been meaning to do for ages.

Thanks for reminding me everyone :T

    Hi
My son's absolute favourite meal is Pasta Carbonara.

    Cook Pasta.

Meanwhile fry the bacon pieces - cut into bitesized bits.

Mix up 2 eggs with about 100g of cheese. Drain pasta and add it back to the pan along with the egg and cheese mix and the bacon bits. Stir it for a couple of minutes coating all the pasta. The heat from the pasta will cook the eggs and melt the cheese. Serve in a large bowl and everyone help themselves, but I make DS go last or there is none left for anyone else.

The amounts are just guess work , so you may have to play to get a taste that suits you.

I do hope you realise that all this talk of lovely 'naughtie' grub made me so hungry last night I fried up some chips and served in a bowl with some mayo - despite having had tea earlier!!

Id do a hunters chicken, probably in the slow cooker with chicken pieces, loads of bacon bits ( youll need the fat to thiciken the wine sauce) red wine, shallots or onions and loads of mushrooms. I serve with lightly roasted new potatoes, baguette and a nice glass, of er, wine :)

Fry up the bacon bites and add chopped up greens (cabbage, sprouts, etc). My OH isn't keen on veg and this is a great way to get him to eat them.

I made a bacon and sausage pie with some last winter. Line a pie plate with shortcrust, fill with minced bacon, finely chopped onion, a couple of skinned sausages and a sqirt of ketchup, (all mixed together), top with pastry and bake for about an hour at 180C

Hi I buy bacon pieces as well. I half the pack and then freeze the rest.
I try to work out how many pieces of bacon i need for recipes that i will be doing over the next couple of weeks or months, then freeze that amount in cling film and freezer bags and use the fresh, that week.
I use mine in Fried Liver and bacon.
Pasta and broccoli with bacon bake.
    Thicker pieces in soups.
    On HM Pizza's
    Spagetti Cabonara
    Chicken Liver and bacon Pate.
Potato salad with bacon I think it was called German potato salad which i found in the OS cookery index, I can't remember who posted it but it was really nice.
or just plain grilled bacon sarni.

    I do:
    bacon and tomato pasta
    chicken and bacon rice
    spaghetti carbonara
    add it to soups
stick a bit in with the chicken carcass when I'm making stock

You can put bacon in all sorts of random pasta dishes. You just need pasta, vegetables, bacon and some kind of sauce.
