Free replacement for broken PSP or PS3?

Thanks for this post - just rang them and got a replacement PSP coming out next week to me. Would have delivered Monday but requested Wednesday as at home that day anyway.

i have phoned and they keep saying i need the original receipt, i have also called sony direct. does the receipt need to be sent in?

ive got one with a broken disc cover on the back will they exchange this and no i dont have a reciept i never keep them any ides?

i have done this with both psp and ps2 both were broke and have never been asked for a receipt,it really was just a matter of phoning them getting a date then a swap at the door.

Ive just rung them coz my sons psp had broken screen. Replacement coming tomorrow with 3 months warranty, £65. Dead chuffed as had been quoted £50 plus pp to get it repaired elsewhere and could take 9 weeks, and then no warranty.
They just asked for the model no and serial no and approximately when it was bought (it was over 12 months ago). Courier coming tomorrow to swap.
Thanks for this, saved me buying new one!!

Sign up - pay for a month or 2 then make your claim. Cost you £5 and a 2 month delay but still a cheap PSP.

Wow - just called them (had to use the 0870 number as the 01923 number was dead) and they're sending a courier with a new one tomorrow!! Thank you so much - my son thought he was gonna have to spend all his Xmas money replacing the old one until I happened across this thread!

Oh, and btw - I bought it in duty free two years ago! I 'forgot' when I bought it when they asked me, and said it was last Xmas. They were more helpful than any company I have ever dealt with - didn't ask for original receipt or packaging or anything. I'm very very happy and majorly impressed with Sony!!

Well I can see why they're doing this. Xbox's probably sell more due to the cheaper price, so by offering a free replacement if it breaks will get more customers. Clever move and very impressive.

Excellent, am so pleased I read this thread as have a replacement one coming tomorrow!! as the door wont close on it so now have a very happy 9 year old!
and the guy at Sony I spoke to was so friendly and helpful too. Thank you to OP and to Sony. :j:j:j
