Not unless you happen to be a shareholder in all of them.
Or unless you work for them.
I recently read somewhere that an Argos employee got sacked for saying its "sh*t", he wasn't far wrong, the stuff they sell is cr*p and they make you queue for hours.

Could have replied "oh so Argos pays minimum wage, and I get you then?!" :rotfl:0

I think the OP could have argued this with argos, I know its hard to define exactly what luxury means, but when a bog standard basic mattress is described as luxury then I think its pretty clear that its being mis-advertised.
Perhaps we shouldnt just meekly give in to such manipulative misleading marketing and should hold them to account.Aha, so thats how you do a signature!0 -
Apparently a good thing I've always heard for a bad back is to sleep on a hard surface.
bit of an urban myth actually. regardless of your back health when choosing a mattress you should choose something comfortable which adequatly supports you. for some people that might be the floor, for others it might be a cloud. no real hard and fast ruleknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

No I've just been a member here for a long time! (Probably too long!)

Usually there are threads in which people are angry for having been fobbed off or told lies by a company, and quite rightly too.
In this case it sounds like the rep told you the truth and still they get slated for it. They are right, you generally do get what you pay for and a £115 mattress is going to be pretty basic at best.0 -
Actually, luxury item does have legal implications.
Example - a judge is more likely to say that flaws in the paintwork of a Rolls are significant than for an Astra, if people are complaining that the car is unfit due to flaws.
I don't think that the word luxury actually has a legal definition, but in court I think the judge would rule that if something was described as luxury then the purchaser would be entitled to expect higher standards of finish than if it was described as basic.
Argos really shafted me over a bed. They also really shafted me over a washing machine. So - not buying furniture from there and not buying white goods. Hardly dip into the catalogue anymore. I have had some really good experiences with IKEA, however.Always another chapter0
