I have never had a discount voucher be deleted or refused once accpeted on line until last week - although it was a constant concern!

Despite two emails Tesco have gone silent and not replied to my requests for a refund. I plan to give it til tomorrow a.m. and then call them.

From when I did my legal studies a few (alright 10!) years back a contract simply involved an offer, consideration and an accpetance.

As so many others have said, the website can easily refuse the vouchers, accepting them only to be denied at delivery is misleading at the least and downright dishonest or fraudulent at worst. What would the position be if we got to the check out, paid then was asked to pay another tenner cos the multibuys and so on didn't apply to you

No doubt someone can point out the pitfalls in the legal position by virtue of some incredibly small pirnt from tesco's website but for me it's the £12 back or I'm off to ocado from this week!!

A couple of years ago I got "stung" on a tesco delivery by certain items not being in stock and not being delivered and consequently the order was less than a certain amount to get free delivery and something like 1000 points.

I was in a hurry when I received the order and it was several days later until I pursued the issue.

The outcome was that I learned that tesco consider that they can vary anything, including prices, offers etc, up until the point that they deliver and that you are "deemed" to have accepted the prices/terms/acceptance (non-acceptance) of vouchers when you sign for the delivery.

    The driver only has authority

    (1) to take back the entire order or

    (2) to credit the customer for substituted or damaged items

My approach now is that if any item is "priced differently" or an item is not delivered so that I do not qualify for an offer such as "spend £100 get free delivery/1000 points", so consequently the "value to me " of the order is not what I was expecting then I insist the driver wait whilst I call Tesco Customer Services and I commence the call with the statement that "I have your driver waiting and I will not accept the order until this matter is resolved satisfactorily".

To date this approach has always been successful in getting the matter resolved reasonably in my favour.

I used the code XXCLK6 for £13 off my groceries, and it was accepted online. When my shopping arrived, however, it was declined. I emailed Tesco, and after a couple of days received a response, saying they need a copy of the code.

I emailed them the code, and they said that wasn't enough, they need to know which mailing etc I got the code from, as it wasn't linked to my account. I obviously got the code off here, so don't know the original source of it. So no hope of getting that £13 back. So annoyed

I recently used a £13 off a £100 spend which went through successfully when ordering my shopping. However, before delivery I amended a few items which took me under the £100 spend and when I received my shopping the voucher value had been removed with the explanation that my bill hadn't reached the required spend.

This hadn't happened before when I think I've done something similar so I believe Tesco are getting much more vigilant.

Something to be aware with when amending your shop.

Just to let you all know, I replied to Tesco saying I did not have a copy of the original coupon for the code, nor could I remember which mailing it was from, as it was a little while back, and said how unhappy I was, and would be considering shopping elsewhere in future etc etc.

Got a very prompt reply, saying there was a technical difficulty with the coupon, and they are very sorry, and will issue me a full refund for the £13 :money:

Same happened to me last week (£10 code) and week before (£12 code).

Have emailed them also (still awaiting response), as I too believe if it's accepted at checkout then it should be honoured.

What with the price of groceries at the moment I rely on these discount codes (if they weren't available then I'd make additional cut backs to my basket).

I'm now reluctant to do another shop/use a code from Tesco's and considering giving Asda a try - although it's unfortunate they don't have a reward scheme like clubcard.

Anyone had problems with codes this week or any experience with Asda?

  • The £12 off voucher was accepted at the checkout, but Tesco didn't deliver about £12 of shopping so said that I hadn't spent the required £80. I pointed out that I had ordered over £80 as per the conditions but that I had no control over what they delivered. (I was tempted to go to the store and see if they really were out of stock! ) Didn't notice until after the delivery. Awaiting a response from them ...

Have used asda free delivery codes and they've always honored them even if things were out of stock, plus when they substitute things, they usually do so with something more expensive but still charge the lower price. I notice that Tesco often substitute something that was on special offer but out of stock, with their own brand and then charge more ...

Well I have had the same problem with this and e-mailed them - stating how annoyed I was that they accepted at point of sale and then refused them later - I got a really snotty e-mail stating that is their right to later refuse the voucher if the deem it not acceptable. They then wanted the voucher code and where I got it from. I am fuming - they must know how we get the codes but to not honour the code after accepting it is awful!!!! They said its in the terms and conditions - so beware people - they are taking us for a ride. they are now looking into my account - like I am a thief!! Feel another e-mail coming on - what do other think about this?
