Tesco voucher codes DISCUSSION ONLY!

I had a £10 code accepted last week at checkout which was rejected on delivery (not supposed to have been valid before 14th July). Phoned up and politely asked what the problem was. They were very nice about it, took the voucher off and credited £10 on to the card. I was therefore able to use the same code again this week and it was accepted fine on delivery.
I accept that it's very frustrating when these codes don't work out, but it has to be remembered that we are playing the system here. Complaining loudly about them not accepting a code they never meant to give you will only add pressure to Tesco ensuring that all future codes are targeted to individuals. Many of us thought that day had come around last January but it eased up again. Those were very dark days indeed.Reading this signature is a waste of time0 -
I have just had an e-mail asking for a scan of the original coupon or text of the e-mail before I can have the £12 refunded. I also have no idea whether it was an e-mail or voucher or what it looked like
Someone who works there has probably highlighted this for a few brownie points and they feel like they have to do something. I would still prefer them to just reject this at point of sale so you know where you are rather than play games.0 -
I can't honestly see that they've got time to play games. There's no money in it. I agree that different CS staff have different attitudes toward voucher abuse, there's always going to be jobsworths.
There seem to be several points where the codes are validated. I'd suggest it's something like the following:
First seems to be when you enter the code & it's translated into the deal. Basic checks are made that it's not out of date, end of promotion, not valid in your store, been used by you before. The error-codes generated seem to indicate these sort of checks.
Second check is when you come to pay and your credit-card is validated. It's not obvious why some codes are rejected at this point. Possibly it filters out targeted codes?
Third check on delivery, have you spent enough, is it still valid on delivery date?
The third check seemed to cause last week's failure. The first check made sure the code hadn't expired, but didn't check the promotion wasn't due to start for a week. The third one caught it at delivery as a non-valid date.
Any insiders from Tesco IT dept. care to comment?Reading this signature is a waste of time0 -
The code was accepted, the original order amount was correct and the date was correct, I think they must have time - and the money must be an issue - why else would they spend time asking to be sent scanned copies of coupons?0

I too had my voucher rejected and now they want to see a copy of the original voucher. I don't know what to reply to that. I too would prefer if they rejected them at the checkout. Then I would know where I am.0

I have to say i totally agree!! These are savings that were never meant for many individuals on this forum and like several other Clubcard related issues if it gets abused too badly they will simply pull the offers or target them to individual Clubcard numbers only!
There are 3 trials regarding coupons at the moment in progress and I'm sure a change will come eventually just as it did when the refund policy got abused.Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -

I emailed them the code, and they said that wasn't enough, they need to know which mailing etc I got the code from, as it wasn't linked to my account. I obviously got the code off here, so don't know the original source of it. So no hope of getting that £13 back. So annoyed
Hi,
I also have an email from Tesco in response to my complaint demanding copies of the codes i.e. that I scan them in and send them. I am also furious as this is not really the issue - the issue is that they are reneging on a financial deal that we as customers then pay in good faith.
They have the facility at the website to reject a voucher if it has been used too many times or is out of date and if we give codes that are acceptable then they should remain accepted.
I am going to email back and say that I don't have the coupons to scan in but that I still think they should honour their deal.
best wishes
