Miss tru's ex is excellent with the emotional blackmail, he started with 'oh I can't manage without you' and this morning, finished off with 'I'm taking pills RIGHT NOW' Mr tru was on the phone dialling 999 while I was trying to ring his house phone (off the hook) and his mobile (switched off). They sent an ambulance to his house and the police turned up too. Nice PC rang us to say he was OK, then rang back 20 mins later to say they'd taken him to hospital. He'd taken pills but as he couldn't remember which ones, he's having his stomach pumped.

    It's all go, innit

    Me again!
Tru- What is it with some men? My ex was as bad. When I first chucked him oput, he'd say" I'm going to kill myself", and my answer was, "Do it then, but make it look like an accident, or I won't get any life insurance!" You have to stand up to them, they never mean it.

Anyway, I'm not that happy. just got back from getting my exhaust done..................£310.20:eek:  It was broken in the middle, but the rest was so rusty they had replace the whole thing. (I know it was, they showed me) Turns out its got a catalytic converter on it, and that's what costs the money. I had to swallow very hard when I handed over my Amex card, but at least I'll get 1% back:rotfl:
It's guaranteed for 3 years, so I suppose £100 a year isn't that bad really, but not what you want straight after Chiristmas. However, with Martins advice, I should be okay.

Hope evryone elses day is going better than mine!:rotfl:

  • Afternoon all

Not long got up, can't lie in bed all day have so much to do.

HUGS HILLSTEP AND BEEMUZED and anyone else who wants one.

Had a good night at work. Payslips were in and I have been refunded the money I paid out in course fees so shall be able to pay off a big chunk of one of my credit cards.:j

Have been inspired to look through my fabric collection and make some bags. Need one for my knitting and also thought I would make one for the beach this summer as am sick of rucksacks. Unfortunately, I only have a mini sewing machine, might ask Mum if I can borrow hers.

Having my hair cut after school, one of the Mum's does it so it's not too bad. Then DS has swimming. No idea on dinner, I tend to eat lots of breakfast when I'm on nights, toast has never tasted so good!:D Especially with Bovril on, such a nurse thing!

Have a good rest of day, off to have shower:A xxxx

AUSSIE congratulations on your new arrival x
  • Hello everyone,

hope you are alright - just catching a minute while I am at work.

Decided to do an experiment next month re groceries. I will be back at home so I thought that I order cat food, litter, pasta, rice, canned tomatoes, coffee from Mr. T at the beginning at the month and then just get what I run out of on a daily basis on the high street. We have a fruit and veg shop there which is cheaper than the large supermarkets, an Aldi, Somerfield etc. And to see where we end up at the end of the month, plan is to also draw the money out, put it in a jar and then take it to do the grocery shop.

We've been doing ok this month considering it is the first month with a budget, £146 on groceries, plus £30 for DD, £25 cats and then £25 on snacks for DH:mad:.

I know where I could streamline a lot but considering that DH was in charge of the household management I think we've done quite well.

We have filled enchiladas tonight for dinner - was meant to have chillie but picked up a pack of tortillas for 10p yesterday, so we are going to fill them and bake them with cheese in the oven.

So pleased with the progress with my crochet blanket...

PS: someone earlier in the thread suggested using a credit card, the whole point of the Nationwide card is that you can use it anywhere in the world and you do no pay any charges.......with a credit card they would charge you for using the card, extra for drawing cash and also a transaction fee, it can work out as much as £8 per cash transaction depending on how much cash you draw. Sorry but that kind of money is better in my pocket, not the credit card companies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry that was me:embarasse , i did say i wasnt sure if it was good advice, we have never used our nationwide credit card to withdraw cash so i didnt know you got charged for that and as i said we never actually ended up using ours abroard so i dont know if that would attract charges. It was nationwide that advised us to get one as we bank with them and i asked them what would the best way be of getting at money while abroard if we needed it (this was in 2000 so old advice now but it was the only experience i had)

Glad you managed to get sorted out it sounds like you really have enough on your plate at the moment ,

AUSSIE, congratulations:T - beautiful names you have chosen as well
